A thoroughly brilliant masterclass on "how to"👏🏼the planting combinations look great now but will look the nuts when it's established,love how you've borrowed the landscape to weave the eye through,as you say,it's also looks much bigger because of it,Percy was trying to steal the limelight a bit😆gotta love 'em.Great work Lee🙌🏼

Thanks Roy! Yeah that part of the lawn was crying out for something and I get so many questions about ‘how can I make this flower bed look better’ and it’s nearly always the size that’s the problem not the contents. So thought I’d do a master class in my own garden hehe. Percy’s thanks fully calming down a bit now. Managed to train the dog instinct out of him! Phew!!! Hope your gardens looking fab in this late summer weather. It’s defo a day for downing tools and cracking open the cold drinks! 🍺 🍻🥷🌿😉🤘🪴

Perfect! Well now you know. Go bigger 1.5m min will get you a really impactful border and you can play around with the placement far more than skinny or wobbly borders. It just give you play room and to better group plants more naturally than formally. 🥷🌿🤘 Do Post some pics on my forum to keep the Ninjas updated. www.gardenninja.co.uk/forum/ Happy Gardening! Lee

Fabulous to hear of your lawn sacrifice for the brilliant big border. Bet you’re loving the end result. People get too caught up with having a lawn (which most people barely use) where as juicy deep borders bring the wildlife and wow factor to a garden! Thanks for commenting and being one of the design Ninjas! 🥷🌿😉🤘🪴

Is it possible to get border jealously 😂. Loving the way it looks so natural. I've actually made this mistake of skinny borders but my excuse is my garden is 4m wide. Totally agree skinny borders you end up with rows of plants. Still learning, still loving having a go and still enjoying all the tips I can get. Thanks for another fab video 😊

You’re welcome Tracy. One of my other top tips is to have an asymmetrical border. So one big border down one side of a skinny 4m garden. Then grow some vertical plants on the other side for balance! 🥷🌿👌🔥

@@Gardenninja Well done; your work isn't in vain. God has blessed the results of your hands. As a new gardener, I am clueless and fear insects, but I enjoy the gratification of gardening effects. I bought a mature Dynamite Crape Myrtle that grows 15-20 feet, much taller than I need, but I couldn't find a dwarf or semi-dwarf. Is pruning it to the desired size yearly advisable or not? 🤔

Hiya! We made the skinny border mistake- we thought we were correct with 1m, but I think that’s a minimum for a hedge or something, so we got confused. But have now covered the grass a further meter in front, ready to dig over come Spring- it instantly looks way better, looking forward to filling it with plants! On that note, it’s a deep shade border, any plant recommendations? 😄 Thanks as always for the fab tips and advice!

@@Gardenninja hi Lee. I’m feeling a bit confused at the moment. You’ve replied to my query about my pot chrysanthemum…and asked me what’s in the pot. It’s the pot chrysanthemum my grandson bought me. I repotted it earlier this year into a larger pot. Am I missing something?
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja Жыл бұрын
@hoppyb6113 hi I thought your original comment had a typo! If it’s a Chrysanthemum (ie mum as some in the states call them) its perennial so will come back after the winter. But you probably want to get it in the ground to give it the best chance. Get it in before the Autumn/ fall and it should be fine! 🥷🌿👌
