Gardner Douglas T70 on the Nordschleife Nurburgring.

One very fast lap in a Gardner Douglas T70. Car is a real british jewel, handmade by www.gdcars.com. This one has a modified Corvette Z06 engine, with about 720 hp for 920 kilos of dry weight. Such a shame we had just finished to running in the engine and left the rpm limiter at 6500 rpm, you can here the car hitting the limiter on the main straight at about 300 kms/h. Driver is the notorious "deaddwarf" Dario Margutti, from www.mythoscars.com. Racing suites by lorddamon.com.

It's the most powerful version of the GD T70, it goes from 150 to 300 faster than what it takes to go from 0 to 150 (wheels skidding). Brutal machine, Margutti, who imported and sells the GD in Italy is a really skilled driver...with a lot of cold blood of course!

I've been on that car with Dario... and I can guarantee the speedometer is not fictious. It's the effect of 720hp on 900 kilos. Basically the same power/weight ratio as a Ferrari FXX with no controls. You need some balls to get in the driver seat... and some spare pants to be in the passenger one!! ;-)

A family acquaintance owned a raced this car in SCCA in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Thing was an absolute beast. In a hour race on 1.9 mile track he lapped the entire field twice.

The LS7 would work. But imm pretty sure it's a Chevy 5 liter putting out over 500 hp. As for the LS 9 it's not a serious track engine. Can't dump the heat from the supercharger for long. Car goes into limp mode or toasts it's engine.

You think? in august 2009 a lap record was set by a Radical SR8 LM at 6:48:28. The RTadical had a top speed of a mere 273 k/h. . It's not the top speed, it's the braking and cornering that do it.

OK keyboard drivers , the reason the speedo is fast is because in about 30% of the video the rear wheels are spinning faster than the car is moving. Read burnout to simplify things. This is not a car that you can just get in and mash the loud pedal. Must of you guys would spin letting the clutch out......
