I'm sorry, but enough is enough. Talk about his win ratio until the cows come home, but the fact is we had two MASSIVE touches in a row in both 2018 and 2021. We blew both. They were literally served up on a plate (Iran, Colombia, Panama etc etc), and we choked. We only won 4 games at the WC!? We have beaten just 7 top ten teams in 8 years and just one top five: Belgium (need I say more?). And now he has literally just said our £1.2 billion/tournament favourites team is not performing 'because we are missing Kalvin Phillips'. Shut the front door I am so done with this. 58 years of this repetitive nonsense and we are so far gone right now; I reckon we will go 100 years. Its completely unacceptable. No point in talking about individual players here, they're all known ballers, and they can manage playing slightly out of position just fine. The problem is dropping back out of sight as soon as we get a goal, the problem is southgate's tactics. It's really simple. I can't velieve he hasn't realised that HE'S the problem, of coirse we're gonna get hammered if we drop most of the squad back to basically our box and have about 3 attackers man marked and isolated, how can we retain possession and do anything meaningful with the ball? How can we take pressure off ourselves and onto the opponent if we don't commit more players forward and make runs and passes? It's just unbelievable that he's scratching his head, you can't expect any team to play well under those conditions, what are they meant to do with the ball like that? He needs a strong word from someone before its too late

I still say that pitch is a nightmare, partly I think this ruined the natural motion of the game. Kyle Walker found out very quickly that his usual playstyle might not suit the pitch conditions. Overall they should have done better. They looks flat and tired. Lets hope this is just a wobble before they find there real rhythm

TAA works in midfield if there is runners to pass the ball to. Only Bellingham made runs in behind. U can't take TAA off and bring on Watkins, the two changes contradict eachother. No runner in behind on the left, Trippier no treat down the left and means Foden has to drop deep because both full back and winger can double up on him. Kane doesn't run behind so no pass there for TAA Saka wants it to feet then to turn and run at the fullback. Don't play a 'passer' in midfield without anyone for him to pass to. Got to have options to make TAA selection viable and to make sense. Don't blame anyone. Injuries on the left and good pressure from opposing teams is the problem. We bring the pressure on ourselves because we don't have out balls or runners in behind. TAA will be dropped for the next game and may not play again in the tournament but won't be of his making

I think Watkins and kane would work. If kane insists on dropping deep, then Watkins can run in behind . Unfortunately that is too bold a move for Southgate to play two strikers. I thought Watkins played well for the 15 odd minutes he got.

Feel sorry for this guy. On one hand, he’s led England further in tournaments than any other manager in years playing some good football along the way - but the warning signs have always been there - negative, unconvincing performances after going one goal up just seems to be a repeat pattern and I think it’s a lot more obvious now he’s out of his depth. England need a good manager with a proven track record of winning tournaments… not a Southgate or Roy hodgson

SLOTH-gate must go after this tournament. We as fans cannot take any more of this awful mediocrity. Players like Mainoo, Wharton, Eze and Palmer must start. There is no aggression no passion, no balls, NO CHANCE, unless you miraculously get some courage and change how we play. The opposition, defense stay calm as we use 3 passes for every one that would suffice, and pussyfoot around the edge of their box. We should be frightening the life out of the opposition, defense, scoring goals, and winning the game in the first half. Instead, if we do score, we then retreat into defense and concede. It’s so obvious and so hard to watch. Sloth-gate WAKE UP! No press, no aggression, no passion, NO CHANCE unless you personally get brave (miraculously) and f*cking ATTACK. You’ve been playing with the handbrake on for years. Mainoo would be orchestrating this whole team if you had the guts to put him in. Palmer would be slicing theirdefense to pieces.
