Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia - Our third stop on our journey across the entire country of Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway is Kazan.
We arrive early on the train from Moscow to Kazan and head straight out to the Blue Lake of Kazan.
We go scuba diving in the Blue Lake and then head back into the city of Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan for lunch and exploration.
We try traditional Russian and Tatar food and then explore the Kazan Kremlin and bustling Bauman Street in downtown Kazan.
The next morning we take a boat from kazan to the ancient capital of Bolgar, where we visit the old city and go inside the White Mosque.
From there, it was back into Kazan to catch the Trans-Siberian Railway once more - this time, we're heading into the Ural Mountains!

Kazan is the unique place cause it is the perfect example of peaceful coliving together of Christians and Muslims. The city population is basically 50% Russian (Christians), 50% Tatar (Muslims). Churches are standing right next to mosques. Everybody respect traditions of the others and dont tell them how they should behave. A girl can go through a street wearing a hijab or a short skirt and nobody will tell her anything. If you want to drink an alcohol you will find plenty of bars and if you want to eat at a halal place there will be a lot of them as well. Its a shame that there are not so many places in the world with ppl attitude towards each other like in Kazan.

Because basically we all are Russians, its a mistake to call Russians only Christians or that Tatars are only muslim. Our people were living together for so long and as neighbors living on a large flat locations connected with rivers, we have really close and complicated national histories. All love and respect and love to people in Tatarstan, I will come there soon hopefully

I’ve been lucky enough to spent a fair bit of time is Russia. I love the country. The last time I was in Russia I went snowboarding on Sheregesh. Russia has so much to offer, nature that puts some famous American landmarks to shame. But I would never have discovered this if I didn’t know and travel with Russian friends. Russia could do so much more to attract foreign visitors. Stopping the bureaucratic nightmare to receive and register a visa would already be a good step in the right direction.

***PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING*** ALL of the information that I speak about within these videos comes from the knowledge of a local guide. If I misspeak or provide incomplete facts, I do not mean to offend or mislead anyone. I am trying to provide as much information as possible within a very short video, so for that, I apologize if I do not completely cover a particular topic. - With that said, in this particular video, some of you have questioned my statement about "Russian soldiers attacking the city of Kazan in the 15th Century" (thus forcing them to move the city to where modern day Kazan is)... - This is one of those times where I should have told the full story or nothing at all - LESSON LEARNED. 🤦🏻‍♂️ - There is A TON of information about this place in history... First, you are correct in saying that, in 1438, the Bulgar fortress Kazan (ISKE-Kazan) was captured by the ousted Golden Horde Khan Ulugh Muhammad - who originally moved the fortress to the modern location. The part I am speaking about (taught to me by our local guide) is the Siege of Kazan in 1552. Tsar Ivan the Terrible (Russian) conquered the city and massacred the majority of the population. The surviving Tatar population was moved 50 kilometers away from the city and Bolgar was forcibly settled by Russian farmers and soldiers. - One last thing, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - ANY AGGRESSIVE OR RUDE COMMENTS about a place, culture, or individuals WILL BE DELETED. This channel is not for trolls. This channel is about positive travel experiences and how incredible this world is, beyond what you may see in the media. There is enough negativity in this world, my comment section will not be one of them. However, I do encourage constructive criticism and help on any information that I may have failed to cover in these videos. - THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING, and I hope you enjoyed the video. 🙏

@@user-yx2kz5bd8r There is no such thing as a tartar, this is Russian propaganda for the people to forget their true origins. For example the Bolgars some of these people use conveniently in history originate from Thracians from the Balkans but after the floods that are historically recorded 6000 bc people migrated in different directions, one of them is Asia where they slowly came back home. They are also the first Slavs, Slav comes from the word Slovo СЛОВО (the word of God), that is why the Chirilic alphabet was created by the Bulgarians in the Bulgarian empire so it can be worthy to spread the WORD of God, that is why the Bulgarian language or (OLD Church Slovonik) was spread throughout other nations which later adopted the Slavic culture, Language and ofcource Orthodox Religion. This is pretty much history of 10000 yrs put in a short graph. To learn more , you must read the old books, not SSSR Jewish bullshit.

Wow! Just came across this beautiful vlog! Big thanks for making an effort and getting the Tatar cultural moments correctly, I'm very proud as a Tatar person to watch this. Special thanks for the original correct spelling of the traditional pastry's name Öçpoçmaq, really appreciate that, man! But you also could've left the original name Qazılıq for the Horse Carpaccio (as you put it) and Kystybi is actually spelled Qıstıbıy, Göbädiyä, rather than Gubadiya, though I understand these were what you were told, so probably its not your fault. Also, lapsha isn't Russian, it's in fact Toqmaç, Tatar as well.

I implore everyone to read Ahmed Bin Fadlan’s (أحمد بن فضلان) travel book commentary in the first half of the 10th century. He talks about Khazars, Slavs, Volga Bulgars, and Vikings. They also adopted his diplomatic mission in a very fictional manner in the movie “The 13th Warrior” starring Antonio Banderas and Omar AlSharif, which was solely based on Michael Crichton's novel “Eaters of the Dead.”

I was just in Kazan in Sept, I've been wanting to go for years. I had to zoom past the first part of the video scuba diving but the rest of the video is very good. I ate Tatar food a few doors down from where you went. As well behind are several Mosques not really visited by tourists as they all just goto the Kremlin, including one from the 1700s built by Catherine the Great for the local Tatars. I have a video on my channel of the local Tatar Mosques incl the Catherine the Great one. I didnt know about the Great Bolgar prior to my trip and I plan to go back and see it so glad I got another preview on here too.
