Alina is one of the common names in Tatarstan and Bashkiria, I think you could easily pass for the local one. Among the Tatars there are many blue-eyed blondes, as well as brown-eyed brunettes

Glad that you liked our Tatar cuisine, as you see in the menu, our food consists of many meat dishes like you’ve tried in Kazakhstan. Besides culture and language, they also have very similar cuisine like ours. Next time when you will visit Tatarstan, you should try original very tasty kullama, it’s one of the best dishes what Tatar cuisine can offer to foreigners.

My parents were both born in Uzbekistan, but ChakChak is a famous dish- love to cook this. But we only allow ourselves to cook it on special occasions.

Esenmesez! Uch-puchmak and chack chack (or shak shak) were my favourites. Also the fried dough that was sold by Apa’s in the market was really good.

Мммм, эчпочмак. Вкусные треугольнички. Специально их попробовала, когда была в Казани) а в Уфе их называют учпочмак(так нам сказал один из местных жителей Казани)

Круто! I love learning something I hadn't even heard of. Fascinating culture that is thankfully being preserved. The clothing and embroidery look amazing. I could obviously live well eating from the menu of this Tatar restaurant 😉. Thank you.

Рад, что ты хорошо проводишь время в этой стране))) В некотором роде и меня заставляет смотреть на вещи чуть... позитивнее. Никогда по-моему не пробовал особо татарскую кухню... мне и в русской не всё нравится (борщи, например... мэ... с детства не люблю), но тем не менее кулинарные видео смотреть всегда не менее интересно чем просто про путешествия. Правда, потом может пробудиться аппетит, а ничего такого же вкусного под рукой нет... становится обидно. :)

Wow! In China, many people also like the Chak Chak, with the name "Sachima". These traditional snack was imported by the Manchus for hundreds of years. This is the first time that I learn about how to make it.🤣 Thanks, Alina. 😊

Alina, try also “pyaryamyach” while in Kazan. My friends in California line up when my wife (she is tatar) cooks it. Try it with chicken broth. And BTW I walked the same streets as you this September while I was visiting my son’s family. Probably, because food is so good back home my wife and I could not persuade our kids to join us in California.

Chak chak looks like fried rice, the same with the rice dishes in Central Asia. All the food looks good though, I'd like to try Tatar food.

You could get chak chak perpackage in Canada Chinese supermarkets. I grew up eating them in Macau and Hong Kong. Never realized they originated elsewhere.

Alina, I enjoyed your video very much. You're seeing and doing things in Russia I haven't had a chance to do yet. One question... in the Tartar Museum, the sauce was made of equal parts of ? and ? One of the ?'s looked like honey? What was the other ingredient?

It was made of equal parts sugar and honey, boiled over the stove to many the syrup :)

Interesting that the menu is in English......... I'm a Pescatarian, so I'd likely have a problem eating the veal, but it looked well prepared............ Informative video on the local cuisine...........well done Alina..................R

Maybe the veal was from a somewhat older calf, or no longer milk-fed? I'm no expert, just trying to determine why it tasted so much like regular beef.

I enjoyed the video. BTW, it's not unusual to find chak-chak at Uzbek restaurants and bakeries in Brooklyn, which has a large population of immigrants from Uzbekistan.
