Garfield's Nightmare Media Day 2004

On May 1st, 2004, Kennywood held a media day for the re-opening of the Old Mill, then called Garfield's Nightmare. Included is an overview of the redeveloped area, a look at the new Garfield and Odie walk-around mascots, an on-ride POV, and a brief commencement by Mary Lou Rosemeyer, Jerome Gibas, and Rick Davis. Also, the winner was announced for the "Where's Garfield?" contest.
Featuring the Garfield comic strip characters, riders took a boat ride through Garfield's food driven nightmare, including a ravenous ice cream trucks, dogs, pizzas, a nurse, a gold fish, mice, and a wild kitchen. Garfield's Nightmare operated from 2004 to 2019.

This video is amazing! The ride looks so new and clean! Also I’ve noticed there is music in the ride that I never knew was in there, and I first rode it in 2006. Must’ve only been in there during the first couple years. Great video!

Wow, this is some great stuff! I noticed a lot of sound effects that were not present on the ride for at least the last ten years. Also some of the spoken lines seemed to play at the wrong time, but maybe that was intended to make it seem more dreamlike. The opening door in the first show scene is also facing the opposite way. It's really interesting to see how the attraction changed over the years, but I'm really looking forward to the return of the Old Mill!

it's interesting how this ride lasted for so long, I noticed how the sound was handled differently in the first couple years when it was operating, later on some of it was removed or cut. now I wonder what happened to the leftover parts they have for this ride now...

Many of them are still in the ride. Anything that's non-descript like the furnature was repainted and is in the current ride, and it's not just the obvious ones like the intro tv that now introduces the story of Harold or the door. The most notable of the unexpected ones is that the evil tv prop is now the puppet stage, although there are far more props still there. Someone made a great video identifying them all and the company which made it commented on the video comfirming it was accurate.

They could've got The Heathcliff characters instead of Garfield, probably could've theme their kids area based off the 70's and 80's Cartoon and Comic strip. There isn't any other theme park besides Universal Studios Hollywood that doesn't have a kids area based off the yet again 70's and 80's Animated Series and Comic Strip, and have walkarounds Characters of Heathcliff, Iggy Nutmeg, or even The Catillac Cats.

I never have been to Kennywood, but I've seen videos of the old mill and I prefer this over the old mill. I wish they never had gotten rid of this. This would actually be a good ride to put in Silverwood.

It either lasted only 1 year or 2 years. Don't remember specifically, but it did not stay too long.

Ok so what I noticed was hardly anyone in the line barriers & they never bothered to redo the outside of the ride . So if there was no Garfield sign anybody would think it was a haunted ride . So glad they bringing it back now I hope they bring back the train ride hillbilly scenes ( or maybe haunted) the billboards are boring!!

Kelly Anderson This video was shot during a media event and wasn’t opened to the public just yet. The public would arrive about an hour later and garnished very long lines right after park opening.
