You could use data packs to make the world limit lower below bedrock without generating world there, but instead, generate the backrooms there. That way you do not have to un-render and render everything and it makes it a little more multiplayer friendly with the people that did not fall through making the mod no longer have to change the time of day, and removing the block transparency because the backrooms generate lower now will allow them to be shader compatible.

Having it be below the world would also allow for more levels of the backrooms to be added if another mod dev (one makes the mod out of passion) wanted to add more, and since one of the methods between backrooms levels is noclipping, it could allow for a just as seamless noclip if the starting room and the destination are stacked.

Some suggestions to improve your mod: 1. When a player is teleported into the dimension the entity only has a 50% to spawn during that single session of them being in the backrooms. 2. A fifth biome where all the ceiling lights are off, the entity is also more aggressive in this biome. Also add more room variations. 3. Make the floor a damp carpet to match the description of the OG backrooms including a wet cloth sound when walking on it. 4. Add random outlets and ceiling air vents. Also place random patches of a dirty/moldy texture variation to the walls and ceilings.

Also after teleporting the moving noise won't be emitted until the player sees it or it moves close to them, this is so i guess people wont immediately know where Tenhead is when he relocates. - Do something about unrendered chunks being replaced with void, maybe by having a "fog" or a blur covering them up and having that coverage colored so that it blends into the backrooms

Key words to those that want to play this: Experimental. This mod has many issues, Sometimes you won't be able to load the game, and it may just outright crash. When playing, your game TPS will be super laggy to the point where the game is basically unplayable. Also, if you die in survival mode you're trapped on top of the backrooms. Also, rendering the rooms so that theyre invisible doesn't really work. It takes time to unrender them and you can clearly see them above your head. In my opinion, it also no-clips the player way too frequently, something like once every 30 seconds, this causes the tremendous TPS lag as well, All in all though, the concept and environment created is still good. It's pretty immersive, but it needs serious work if it wants to be actually playable.

The way it stops chasing the player should be in a way that feels like it was never chasing the player and accuses the player that they’re just hallucinating. Hey Gargin! Modder here!! For making the seemless transition between backrooms and overworld you could do something similar to Immersive portals if you've seen that mod! It essentially allows the players to create an inward and outward wrapping portal in which the player can see directly through AND step through it. If you were to do something similar, you could make the portal work like a structure and have it spawn every 100-200 blocks! Then once the player stumbles upon said structure they fall through the inward portal to a void somewhere where they can continue falling into and outward portal which leads into the backrooms!

@@chrono9503 Clipping is the situation, where the geometry of multiple objects intersect. Noclipping is the name of the method of movement in which the mobile object is unaffected by external forces, such as gravity or the collision force of other objects. This allows the mobile object (in this case the player) to engage in clipping with other objects. The difference is that the later is a special method of movement, while the first is just a situation. A method is not a situation. A method can *create* a situation.

I'd love to see this mod continue development, with more features while keeping this beautiful simplicity. Some ideas: - better hiding of the backrooms, to improve performance and make it so you can't see it in the sky - maybe a more seamless transition out of them, like a reverse-noclip that always spawns above water so you don't die - extension of the rooms on the y-axis, making weird floors, drops, large rooms expanding upward, or weird holes into different biomes - like in the Kane Pixels series, randomly placed props like a table or a dirt block that adds to the out-of-placeness - maybe some more non-Euclidean feel with chunks regenerating as you walk away from them, making backtracking impossible - chances for lights to be blown out or different colors creating dark sections or an out of place colored light - a fade between the ambience sounds of biomes, and maybe more biomes This mod is so cool and has so much potential, I can't wait to see an updated version! I'd look into the immersive portals mod to see how they seamlessly tp you and then use that to tp people to the backrooms, the mod is open source what you have now certainly does work, but as you said it's highly abrasive and also only works in singleplayer unless you make EVERYONE fall into the backrooms at the same time, since the game randomly turning night isn't great for the immersion of other players who don't fall in when it comes to the tinhead teleporting, it's very very noticeable to people with literally any kind of stereo sound system, you can hear the entity teleport from behind you to one of your sides it's certainly a cool idea but maybe I'd have it actually navigate to a flank position, possibly at a higher speed, and then start chasing you again so it isn't as jarring of a sound direction change using biomes for the different sections is genuinely so smart I'd have never thought of that overall best mc backrooms vid I've ever seen, but it's still got it's flaws (ultimately really small flaws of course, the mod still works and does what it aims to achieve)

Your skills in modding and creating unnerving stuff in stuff like GMOD and Minecraft are extremely impressive, and despite the large amount of copycats that come as a result, yours end up being the highest quality. Probably the most important part about it is the lack of reliance on jumpscares and a focus on building tension. A lot of Backrooms stuff for instance has a tendency to have a LOT of monsters, which takes away from the unsettling liminal feel, while the one singular monster that stalks you adds just enough to not disrupt that feeling while added a feeling of being watched and dread. And the mechanics of said monster intensify that, not just always charging right at you, but seeming you exploit the confusing realm youre in to get you. Im so excited to see what else you make in the future, whichever game or mod it is.

When the TinHead starts the flank behaviour, I'd suggest cutting its sounds cause I found that you could almost track it by listening out for the constant audio when its chasing you; and the whole purpose of the Flank behaviour was for it to be a sudden reaction thing for the player, so if you cut the sound the TinHead which might make the player stop or slowdown to see if it's still chasing you cause with a few popular horror mods when the sound stops the actual Entity stops(correct me if I'm wrong tho) But other than that, yeah, this is suuuuper unnerving, and I found my eyes nearly always darting to the left and right or at corners to try and see

They are too busy adding one more useless fish and another useless block which looks slightly different to an existing one to make an interesting update.

This mod is really good, but i personally think it'd be better without the monster. Same reason why peaceful mode is scarier than regular minecraft. In regular minecraft you're constantly worrying about mobs, and while that is horror (Deadly fear), it's not terror (environmental fear). While in peaceful mode you constantly ponder, during the night you're not scared per se, rather you're uncomfortable. You can feel something's wrong, but there's no creeper to point it towards. Instead of being scared of threats that are there, you're instead scared of threats that could be there. Imagine finding a woodland mansion in peaceful. A gigantic mansion in the middle of the woods, but nobody lives there. How is it perfectly maintained? Who built it? Your mind starts to wander and wander of what could be there. Imagine stumbling upon disc 11 as a peaceful mode only player. What the hell is it that you hear in the disc audio? You have never seen or heard anything like that. Is it what's causing the sounds in the caves? Whatever the hell it is you're scared of it. You're scared of a creature that never comes. You're constantly on the edge of being scared and jumping. If your backrooms were devoid of any life it'd (imo) be much more unsettling. When you get jumpscared all of the built up fear is released. When you aren't, that fear keeps building up. This is why so many good horror games can thrive without jumpscares. For example My house (A really good horror doom 2 mod) has barely any jumpscares, just the dread of being alone in places you feel like you've been before, but can't remember any memories there. A transitional space, if you will. You don't focus on an airport or a playhouse but just seeing those places without the humans that are supposed to be there just fills you with a sense of dread. But that's just my two cents. This is a great mod and great video and i hope you can improve. I wish you a good morning/night.

We can also notice in more of Kane's series that different parts of the backrooms actually have different stability levels, like the newest one is just rows of regular rooms without noticeable anomalies

I think if you can make the blocks only render when above the floor, there might be a way to make the blocks obstruct light when you are in the backrooms, but have them be completely transparent otherwise, thus no longer needing to set the world to night.

I've always thought Minecraft needed a solid, high-effort Backrooms mod. Some were good, but were either incomplete or only on older versions. In comes Gargin to save the day once again!

now with respect, this is a good mod FOR SINGLEPLAYER. there are a lot of ways i imagined how it could be optimized and i have yet to learn java. if some talented dev sees this, i’d ask if you could improve this.

I love this Mod very much and cant wait to see more added!! Some things I recomment: Making the thing faster, updating pathfinding More terrain generation (Stairs, weird things, enclosed rooms, stains, worn out wallpaper.) Different versions of the backrooms (Different wallpaper, like blandness or different patterns) Dark rooms, maybe red rooms?

The idea of putting the Backrooms in the sky to make transitions more seamless is pretty neat, but I feel like it also poses a lot of limitations. For instance, you can't really add much verticality to it due to height limits. You can't really have stairs, multiple floors, or rooms with tall ceilings or deep pits. I feel like a better solution would be to make a separate dimension. For seamless transitions with no loading screens, there are mods such as Immersive Portals, which have managed to pull it off with separate dimensions.
@ALF-jd5hf2 ай бұрын
I think you should expand on this mod like add new biomes or have levels ( that act like dimensions ) also this idea ant new but you made it a beautiful dreadful creepy atmosphere ( this mod also reminds me about the corners you should check it out )

3:40 I call it home. It's one of my all time favorite mods that I won't fail to include if it has a version of itself in that version of MC. I love dimension doors. Limbo's just a mild oopsie or a wrong turn off into the void. It doesn't even take your items unless you set it to in the config (but by default it doesn't)

A big negative with how the lighting works is that if you set it to night when the player is inside, if you're playing multiplayer, itll be night for them
