There are better route planners but Strava Routes is great to slap something together quickly/roughly then go ride. You can also get live Relative Effort, once you've set up HR on Garmin to agree with your Strava settings. One left field one I like is Cog Display - shows current gearing with freaky accuracy using only cadence/speed sensor. If it's good enough for DI2 it's good enough for my groupset!

Have 2 garmin watches an X5 and a 5 plus. The issue is when looking at available storage for apps watch faces and data fields. Both watches have 1 watch face And 2 new data fields from the store. The x5 shows available space is 1.91mb The 5 plus has over 12mb When I asked Garmin Support I was told it's to do with the different Firmware of each watch ? I Find this hard to imagine, any ideas. Is it means that an Edge 830 (for example) is now a 100% computer/cable free device? I have a Bolt and I'm deciding to upgrade between an Elemnt Roam and Edge 830, even knowing that the 830 is a better overall device, the Garmin "cable and computer" experience push me away from buying an Edge device.

Good question, I've got the bolt, but am very keen on the 830 (or 530) - just because Garmin off road mapping must surely be better than wahoo (even when comparing to the roam). Even though everyone raves about the wahoo, the maps are disappointing (even tho I knew that when I got the bolt). Just don't think the roam is a good enough upgrade from the bolt. Will be interested to hear what you went for?

Within the Connect app. That’ll pair the device to your mobile and the Connect IQ app will then see them.

Quick question: Does pairing/connecting a unit to my phone have any implications on the assigned Garmin Connect account in Garmin Express or is the app not linked to a specific Garmin Connect account? I.e., can I manage my wife's units with my phone without having her data being uploaded to my account?

From what I understand, it just works with android. If it needs downloading, I’ve found no downloads on the store compatible with Apple.

You can pair to IQ however as of Sept, ‘21, Lily cannot use anything on IQ. If I am wrong, please tell us!

1000 should be compatible. Imagine it's typically quirky BT or Garmin software. It currently isn't showing my connected 520...

I had same problem on Android, but I have just removed my phone from Connect, went back onto IQ and it paired straight away.

Acabo de darme cuenta que con la última actualización de garmin conecct iq, cuando instalas una foto como fondo de pantalla en el garmin se ven muy mal, menos nítida que antes y mas borrosa. Antes de esa actualización las fotos que ponía de fondo de pantalla se veía mucho mejor. Agradecería que me confirmases si te ocurre a ti también. Gracias y un saludo!!

Question. I have a watch 245 and an edge 530. I register commuting, easy rides with my watch but I use my edge for longer and faster rides. Is there an automatic way in which these two are uploaded to garmin connect as different activities and not just "cycling"? Thanks for your help and great video as always (will any app be necessary for this?)

Well, it seems that the new Garmin Connect IQ app IS NOT fully compatible with all Garmin devices.😢😡 At present, the only Edge series products that ARE compatible with the new Garmin Connect IQ app are: Edges 1030, 520 Plus, & Explore. 😲 buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/pn/010-CONIQ-00#devices

These app/widgets have always seemed sort of useless. Some are kinda neat but after 5min they’re not really going to help with progress.

All the basic/core functions are built in. I like the idea of the extensibility ConnectIQ offers. One day someone might make a killer app that becomes a must-have.

All of the Apple garmin Apps are poorly rated. Most do not work and are a waste of time. Garmin Edge Maps suck... These are supposed to be bicycle specific maps. Yet these stupid garmin edge maps try to put a bicyclist onto the freeway, which is illegal in most of the USA.. You try to ride a bike specific path and every 2 seconds the Stupid Garmin Edge tells you to make a Uturn. Garmin has not updated their bicycle maps for their Garmin Edge products in over 20 years. The maps are so out dated that they don't know any new roads and try to head you down a one way the wrong direction. Garmin hasn't updated anything for years. OUTDATED PRODUCT THAT COMPLETELY SUCKS.
