Now I own a one month old Fenix 7 pro. Garmin is talented at making you buy the new thing. I could still do the job with my Forerunner 235 or at least stick to the Fenix 6. Well, I am a die-hard Garmin fanboy. I have always bought the latest and greatest Fenix/Tactix since the Tactix Bravo series... However, I have to admit that this is the first time that I feel that the new model would be a waste of money.... I currently own a Fenix 7 pro and I have to admit that the latest model doesn't offer anything that I don't already have. The MIP screen is a must for me as I usually go on multi-day events such as sailing, hiking or cycling... The Fenix 7 pro already has the 5th heart rate sensor, so that's something I already have. The microphone is completely unnecessary for me. I also appreciate the more mature, more reliable firmware (I used to test betas but there was far too much unnecessary frustration and wasted battery cycles...). So Garmin has made my life easier this time around, because I can't see any advantage with this model compared to my Fenix 7 pro... Maybe the Enduro 3 would be grate however I switched back to the 47mm case size because I feel more comfortable for daily driver.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning AMOLED Screen Burn-In. All OLED and AMOLED displays are prone to this issues and it's rather matter of time when it happens to your screen, rather than if it happens. It's just the way the technology works. Because watches display static image all the time, they are the most vulenrable type of OLED devices. Companies use different tricks to prevent burn-in but I sooner or later it happens to every watch. So if you're planning to keep you watch longer than 1-2 years - keep that in mind. I'm really excited to buy Fenix 8 AMOLED, but the burn-in issue is the only think restraining me from it. If you spend 1000-1200$, you don't want your screen to have some flaws after 1-2 years of usage... Think twice before making your choice.

I don’t need to watch videos or pictures on my wrist. The only real advantage is when viewing maps but mip is good enough for me. The brighter the conditions, the more awesome the contrast on the mip. And you can literally go on vacation for a week or two and leave the charger at home. The solar on the 7x however is a joke. I also had an instinct 2 which actually charged when left in the sun. The 7x only pretends to, though it’s cool to have the lux meter widget. Thanks some guy on the Internet. I think my next Garmin may be a micro-led one but I'll wait for at least one iteration for them to get all the kinks out. Until then my trusty low cost 255 MIP watch is good enough for me. I like the plastic watch back - they have the fewest issues with allergies although I'm guessing titanium would be pretty inert too? And the MIP display is still my favorite - I'd recommend people use a watch face that's black on white during day and switches to white on black only at night, black on white is way more visible in bright sun. Since I always have my phone with me somewhere (even when running I wear a vest to put the phone in) all the other battery consuming features of the higher priced Garmins are wasted on me. If money were no object then maybe - although seriously, those bigger sizes are huge and phat!

No one force you to upgrade your epix pro or fenix 7pro or other Garmin watch but the technology keep forward. I bought the fenix 8 47 amoled and it is crazy! The amoled display is insane. You must trust me! The graphics have been modernized in the menu too. But it is only about your own preferences!! Not only about price. Otherwise no one would buy a rolex anymore!!

It's completely unfair to compare Garmin with Rolex. People buy Rolexes with the expectation of luxury, status that comes with it, that's not the point of Garmin, dude. Garmin is supposed to be a tool. Is it cutting edge? Yes, but it's very hard to justify the price increase with the few new features it has. Also, you bet that the price will only go up with each model, so consumers are well within reasons to complain.

I think if amoled display with solar was an option, then I’d chose that. After 5 years of ownership of the 945, my battery life has reduced by 50% (i.e., from needing to charge every 12-14 days in watch mode to now needing to charge every 5-7 days). I love the idea of being able to go away for a couple of weeks and not having to worry about charging. I am leaning towards the Enduro, however, I really like the added features plus amoled display of the Fenix 8

@@HugoParedes battery life doesn’t bother me if your a Garmin guy or an Apple guy good luck with it, I still wear both on opposite sides AWU on the left and Garmin Epix Pro gen 2 51mm on the right and I still love my AWU a bunch more. I do not have to drag my phone everywhere I go on my runs camping hiking and with my Garmin I have to take it everywhere to get any kind of messages off line maps are cool but if I can’t get an important message or call it all goes out the window. Next battery life, I have my watch set up to run at night with the strobe flashing so I do not get killed or hit by a vehicle. This allows me 4 days of battery on my Epix Pro I guess because of the 2 hours of strobe but anyways that’s just about 1 day longer than my AWU but as I have said before battery doesn’t make a difference in my mind because mine go on the charger daily so no worries there ever. If we go camping hunting or back packing we always carry battery banks so no worries there either, it’s nice not to have to charge daily but it’s a muscle memory type thing for me …. I prolly will never buy another Garmin watch again unless there is a dramatic mind boggling upgrade, which I don’t see coming this speaker addition to me is not going to get it not even if they add cellular the Apple Watch is just too easy and a no brainer for daily life and exercise

I didn't want to pay the extra for the Fenix 8 which i probably would have got in the medium size with solar MIP so i got the Enduro 3. I would say my wrists are quite small and at first the Enduro 3 looked a bit big but its so light and comfortable to wear I soon got used to it and now i don't mind it at all. I dont care about the plastic body of the Enduro 3, I've had a 735xt for like 7 years and it's still going strong and as I always use a screen protector it's pretty much as new other than a different strap. I don't like talking to my watch, I have a pixel 2 watch and never liked using it for calls etc.

I currently have 2.5 year old Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar. It's not my only watch, so I didn't wear it that much yet. I am still good, but this Fenix 8 Pro sounds interesting. I love the readability of the MIPS screen in daylight, but I must admit that much attractive looking watch faces don't come out very well on this screen. With a MIPS screen you have to stick to simple looking watch faces. The Fenix 7X SS is still more than I can ever need, but the specs given in this video might be very interesting imho. I do however hope the Fenix 8 Pro is still a year away from it's release, so I can say I at least say I kept my Fenix 7 for 3.5 years (which is still not long imo).

I have 6 months of experience with the Enduro 2 and earlier 7-8 months with the Forerunner 255. I will say this - there is no point in buying the "top" Garmin models. You will throw away your money. While I was quite happy with the budget (it cost about 280 Euro, so was not for free) Forerunner 255, the Enduro 2 turned out to be full of errors. Maybe I am now using the watch with greater awareness and I did not notice it in the Forerunner, or maybe the software of the top models is crap. I doubt that the software of the Enduro, Fenix or Epix is different from each other so think twice when you want to spend 800-1000 Euro. Examples of errors that I reported to support within half a year: 1. The watch did not allow me to calibrate a run on the treadmill (the difference between the watch and the treadmill was 1 km), even though the run was several times longer than required in the watch's instructions (I run over 10km). I do not have the option of manual calibration. As a result, the watch stupidly thinks that I am now in great shape. Because of this, I cannot use the watch on the treadmill if I want to use training suggestions or analyze its statistics. 2. The watch deleted my planned running races in the calendar during the update and later after manually restarting the watch. 3. The watch suggested training on the day I had a race set in the watch. It also suggested incorrect trainings before the race. 4. The watch does not update the set competition goal (race finish time), despite the change in Garmin Connect. So training suggestions can be inaccurate. I have omitted simple errors in screen graphics or naming (e.g. translation errors). I mainly use the running and treadmill activity and occasionally 2-3 others, including walking and strength training. Garmin focuses on flooding the market with new models without caring about quality. We are treated as either stupid users or beta testers.

I'm using Enduro 2 for almost two years now. I love it - they last me almost a month with the activities I do. When it comes to sports I had few issues in a pool when garmin didn't detect turns properly (with proper pool length set). Not a big problem but certainly irritating. This was true specially when I was doing bigger lengths (4km) as I was not doing proper flip turns (I can't do them effectively yet). The only issue I had happened very recently - starting with the firmware (fw) 16.xx battery life got worse, almost killing it with the version 18.xx. I was angry, the last thing I wanted to do on my watch was keeping an eye on these things. But I had to do just that -- I had to downgrade the fw to 15.77 and lock it. Now the battery life is back to normal.

@@matoatlantis with my 5-7 activities a week (3-5 runs with GPS) I can use the watch for at least 14 days. Maybe even 18-21 days (I will check it soon as I have 33% battery now). @matoatlantis27 күн бұрын
@@hubert7734 I'm too lazy to check how often I use them monthly but according to strava I did 180hrs worth of activities in 2024, 196hrs in 2023. All bells and whistles on, always with GPS except for swimming. I bought enduro 2 because I do night hikes alone (~1km vertical climb). I just wanted to have something I could use in case of a bad weather (fog, deep snow, night) and not be worrying about its battery life. I was surprised how practical the light on this watch was, did save me few times (not only during sport activities). But I don't use garmin's trainer, have 0 experience there. I agree lately garmin's SW is BS. And these training suggestions (and other bugs) could be solved with a proper SW update. As I mentioned - newer the FW the worse it gets.

I have an original Venu. The battery needs charging twice a day and the Amoled screen is fading quickly. I like the amoled. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so a bright display is a big benefit. I'm leaning towards the 51mm Fenix Saphire/Ti. I tend to keep my gear till it dies, so the cost difference isn't a huge deal over the long term. It is damb pricey though. My one concern is that since the battery only needs to be charged occasionally, it will likely last a lot longer. That make the amoled display the weak point. Then again, maybe amoled longevity has improved since my venu was made.
