My opinion. I am a runner since 2018. Bought a forerunner 235. Kept it for four years. Bought a Fenix 6. Kept it one year. Forerunner 255. One year. Instinct 2. Six months. Now I own a one month old Fenix 7 pro. Garmin is talented at making you buy the new thing. I could still do the job with my Forerunner 235 or at least stick to the Fenix 6. Thankfully I sold them without problem and at good prices but God, you just need GPS, Interval training and good looks. Looking forward for my first Marathon in Athens. 🎉🎉

Yeah, and the Fenix 7 Pro has the _exact same_ sensors than Fenix 8 or Enduro 3 has! Fenix 8 or Enduro 3 did not come with a new sensor version, it's the exact same that the Fenix 7 pro has! So Fenix 7 pro is as capable as Fenix 8 or Enduro 3. If you don't need mic/speaker or diving functionality, get Fenix 7 pro and pay less!

Talented in making you buy a new thing? I would not say so. I'm still satisfied with my 5X Plus and see 0 reasons to upgrade feature wise, except maybe flashlight but seriously, not 1.2K for electronic watch lol. Used 7 Pro lately for a week, thought it might sparkle a desire to own one in me, no, not really, pretty much the same watch, maybe a little bit prettier thanks to a bit smaller bezels, well, and a flashlight. 0:39 is why I will be staying with MIP. As petty as it seems, I just hate looking at white numbers on a black background on a watch, especially when running in the daylight. @@myralchista LCD technology is completely different than (am)oled. The Wikipedia page on oled states that an all white oled screen uses approx 300% _more_ power than an all white lcd. This in stark contrast to typically using 60-80% _of_ the power that an lcd screen uses in typical consumption with more balanced pictures. Hey 👋 regular man here. I purchased the Fenix 8-47mm Sapphire Titanium. I upgraded from the Vivoactive 4. It just finally bit the dust after serval hard years. I’m an electrician by trade, sportsman/outdoorsman, DIYer, farmer, builder, etc…..My hands make a good living for my family. So I got the one I know will take a beating. I’ve had mine since launch day and haven’t charged it yet with 26% on the screen and estimated 4 days left of battery….. I’m impressed and extremely happy with my purchase.

I don’t use the AOD because for me if I’m not looking at it then why should the screen be on wasting power… I have it set to the gesture setting. That way it’s there when I need it Johnny on the spot plus it saves battery. Today the battery is at 11% with estimated 2 days left. I’m not sure if it will make it those 2 days, but either way I am still extremely happy with it.

Owning a Fenix 7 Pro I am not going to be updating just yet but if I was I would very likely go fro the Enduro 3 as I feel it offers the natural progression of what Fenix used to be. My only gripe is that it doesn't come in 47mm, which I would prefer as I have roughly same size wrist as yours and feel that 51mm is just that tiny bit too big.

Wow! Thank you so much for this video! I didn't even know the Enduro existed, and after thinking about how bright OLED would be in the wee hours in addition to the incredible battery life of the the Enduro 3. I was going to get a Fenix 8, but now I'll think I'll get the Enduro 3 and just have the O-ring changed every couple years. While I love the Fenix 8, my current Casio Pro-Trek solar has never needed a battery and that's what I'm aiming for with a solar watch.

Well, I am a die-hard Garmin fanboy. I have always bought the latest and greatest Fenix/Tactix since the Tactix Bravo series... However, I have to admit that this is the first time that I feel that the new model would be a waste of money.... I currently own a Fenix 7 pro and I have to admit that the latest model doesn't offer anything that I don't already have. The MIP screen is a must for me as I usually go on multi-day events such as sailing, hiking or cycling... The Fenix 7 pro already has the 5th heart rate sensor, so that's something I already have. The microphone is completely unnecessary for me. I also appreciate the more mature, more reliable firmware (I used to test betas but there was far too much unnecessary frustration and wasted battery cycles...). So Garmin has made my life easier this time around, because I can't see any advantage with this model compared to my Fenix 7 pro... Maybe the Enduro 3 would be grate however I switched back to the 47mm case size because I feel more comfortable for daily driver.

@@renevh2832 Well I tried Garmin and I thought it was too dumb for my liking. I owned the Enduro 1 and then the Enduro 2. I still prefer the Ultra even though the battery life is much shorter. It can still go 2-3 days on a charge and in practice I just slap it on charge when I jump in the shower. It charges quickly and is super easy to slip off my wrist and onto the magnetic charging stand so it's not a big deal. The main reason I want longer battery life is for when I go hiking or when I go away on holiday. It's nice to have a bit more headroom without worrying about charging. Garmin is at the end point for the current processor. Great watches but maps and weather maps update slowly. Adding more gimmicks for more money but slow update speed is not ideal. If the processor was just a tad quicker I’d grab the Fēnix 8 because of the buttons and diving features. The other major detractor to upgrade is AI with microphone and speaker. That will probably be a no go end point for currently serving military guys (Tactix). Great watches but

I have a 7x solar sapphire and an mk3 (for diving). So I have the direct comparison between mip and amoled. The amoled is cool but I agree with the guy who said it is distracting. I don’t need to watch videos or pictures on my wrist. The only real advantage is when viewing maps but mip is good enough for me. The brighter the conditions, the more awesome the contrast on the mip. And you can literally go on vacation for a week or two and leave the charger at home. The solar on the 7x however is a joke. I also had an instinct 2 which actually charged when left in the sun. The 7x only pretends to, though it’s cool to have the lux meter widget. So with all this, if the enduro 3 actually has a functioning solar, it would be my choice. But I’ll wait so see real life reports on the solar.

If I lose less than half battery after a 26 hour ultra with constant screen usage and using the flash light a couple times the boost in battery to Enduro 2 doesn't matter as much for me. Although the clearer screen might be nicer. Also Garmin is really great with product support. After a couple years the start/stop button was jammed and I tried to fix it. I haven't seen anyone mentioning AMOLED Screen Burn-In. All OLED and AMOLED displays are prone to this issues and it's rather matter of time when it happens to your screen, rather than if it happens. It's just the way the technology works. Because watches display static image all the time, they are the most vulenrable type of OLED devices. Companies use different tricks to prevent burn-in but I sooner or later it happens to every watch. So if you're planning to keep you watch longer than 1-2 years - keep that in mind. I'm really excited to buy Fenix 8 AMOLED, but the burn-in issue is the only think restraining me from it. If you spend 1000-1200$, you don't want your screen to have some flaws after 1-2 years of usage... Think twice before making your choice.

And the MIP display is still my favorite - I'd recommend people use a watch face that's black on white during day and switches to white on black only at night, black on white is way more visible in bright sun. Since I always have my phone with me somewhere (even when running I wear a vest to put the phone in) all the other battery consuming features of the higher priced Garmins are wasted on me. If money were no object then maybe - although seriously, those bigger sizes are huge and phat!

Great video. I'm really tempted by the Enduro 3. Regarding navigation, is map coverage global, or regional based on purchase location? it might sound a silly question but the GARMIN vehicle SATNAV's have regional maps loaded based on purchase region (Europe, North America etc) which makes sense, but a smartwatch user is more like to travel around, potentially to another global region. I'd be disappointed if it didn't work on a global scale.

Amoled is very good looking, true, but the clock shows numbers, amoled is not necessary for that. Also battery with MIP is superior, so for me MIP is the best. Also, I want to use the clock, it's not an accessory for me. MIP has very good quality and I like solar option even it is not a total game changer but it's a nice addition. Love the video! But, it raises another two questions. Since these watches are expensive, I plan on having one for a long time. Since the o rings on the enduro may dry rot, is the 8 a better choice for longevity? And if I buy a enduro from play better and don’t like the way the maps look will they take it back so I can get the amoled 8?
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 2 ай бұрын
The O-Ring thing isn't a huge deal. I have a Fenix 1 from 2012 that was used for swimming and showered with and to this day still works while relying on the "old button" technology. That said, the new button tech is super cool and the fact that it's literally impossible for water to penetrate the watch is nice peace of mind. But not totally necessary. When it comes to Playbetter... Yes if you don't like how it looks they will happily take your return. They are Garmin Authorized sellers but also understand if it's not what you expected they need to take it back... that's why I promote them!

If I’m gonna spend that sort of money on a watch I’m gonna wear it 24/7 so it’s got to be aesthetically pleasing. For that alone it would have to be the Fenix 8. I’m considering changing from AWU but will wait until the comparison reviews come out. The AWU with the Workoutdoors app is excellent for runners as the amount of screens and metrics you can have is insane. But I’m now considering a more conventional looking watch.

I currently have 2.5 year old Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar. It's not my only watch, so I didn't wear it that much yet. I am still good, but this Fenix 8 Pro sounds interesting. I love the readability of the MIPS screen in daylight, but I must admit that much attractive looking watch faces don't come out very well on this screen. With a MIPS screen you have to stick to simple looking watch faces. The Fenix 7X SS is still more than I can ever need, but the specs given in this video might be very interesting imho. I do however hope the Fenix 8 Pro is still a year away from it's release, so I can say I at least say I kept my Fenix 7 for 3.5 years (which is still not long imo).

I do not have to drag my phone everywhere I go on my runs camping hiking and with my Garmin I have to take it everywhere to get any kind of messages off line maps are cool but if I can’t get an important message or call it all goes out the window. Next battery life, I have my watch set up to run at night with the strobe flashing so I do not get killed or hit by a vehicle. This allows me 4 days of battery on my Epix Pro I guess because of the 2 hours of strobe but anyways that’s just about 1 day longer than my AWU but as I have said before battery doesn’t make a difference in my mind because mine go on the charger daily so no worries there ever. If we go camping hunting or back packing we always carry battery banks so no worries there either, it’s nice not to have to charge daily but it’s a muscle memory type thing for me …. I have an original Venu. The battery needs charging twice a day and the Amoled screen is fading quickly. I like the amoled. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so a bright display is a big benefit. I'm leaning towards the 51mm Fenix Saphire/Ti. I tend to keep my gear till it dies, so the cost difference isn't a huge deal over the long term. It is damb pricey though. My one concern is that since the battery only needs to be charged occasionally, it will likely last a lot longer. That make the amoled display the weak point. Then again, maybe amoled longevity has improved since my venu was made.
