Thanks Ray, great way of giving an overview of the device - you should do it more often! But I do appreciate the effort involved :) It imparts much more of the touch and feel of the product than static pictures. There are quite a few small things that you showed quickly that I wouldn't have guessed it could do from the specs. Nice to see the decent track accuracy given for those out there disappointed with the fenix2 and 620. And of course for the real detail I look forward to your in-depth review..... Keep up the good work!

Hi DC thanks for the review as a long term user of 910 XT primarily for Ocean Kayaking I feel the following enhancements would be very useful. I like the availability of Lat/Long positional information but the fonts are small and hard to read especially in a kayak at night. I would also welcome the introduction of true heading ( Compass) as opposed to simply displaying the nearest Cardinal direction this feature is invaluable especially as there are very few good lightwieight and readable backlit compasses available in the marketplace. I would buy this unit if all it did was display accurate large font digital heading in degrees. Not all users have good vision especially older users I can highly recommend this unit for all those who Kayak in addition to its main target user base My only other comments are that whilst I can configure the watch to display in Nautical miles both distance and speed in knots. When I analyse my trips it only displays distance within the software in statute miles. The detail on Garmin connect maps only provides a very close inshore view. Thanks again for your excellent review.

Thanks for the walkthrough. It has confirmed my decision to go and buy one. The only problem is on my side of the world these things are rarer than hen's teeth, so it looks like I'm going to have to wait for about 5-6 weeks till the next shipments arrive. Really looking forward to being able to log my swims and runs, something I cant do with my long time buddy, the old garmin 500 on the bike (which is still going strong 5 years later!)

Talking about Garmin reliability, I have a Garmin Forerunner 201 that is retired but still works well. I love my Garmin Edge 500, 510 910XT and will have the 920XT on my wrist in two days! Can't wait.

Your number of followers on youtube is a shame Rainmaker. Your reviews are the best in the world with so much details ! I mean, no one can make a review like you do. So much informations for the customer who can easily know if the product is what he wants. Thanks a lot for taking so much time. I love you (in good term :) ). Continue ! By the way, i do only running and biking separately. Must i bought this watch to replace my 620 ?
@Dcrainmaker10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For your FR620, they added in the bike mode this past June, so in many ways I'm not sure I'd go with the FR920XT over the FR620 for just running and cycling without a power meter.

Yes you did! Just saw it on the map. Wow.

Well Done DC Rainmaker. It was hard to be patient but it appears that wait was well worth it and Garmin was listening. While there maybe some features missing such as BTLE, I like the watch mode feature and activity monitoring. I'm curious on the accuracy especially the barometric altimeter. #training #triathlon #cycling #running

I just purchased my 920XT three days ago. My previous Garmin was a Forerunner 305. I chose the 920XT largely based on your review sir! Thank you so much! Is the HRM waterproof?
@Dcrainmaker9 жыл бұрын
Yup, fully waterproof. Most wear the HRM under their wetsuits in a tri. Note that it won't capture HR data while swimming, but once you leave the water you're good to go.

Hello DC Rainmaker! Thank you for the excellent review. It's very helpful and probably I want to buy the watch. I have a question: I have the 910XT and I really love the watch for triatlons. But when I use Auto Multisport and use the Lap button for the transitions, the logged data is split into seperate Activities in Garmin Connect. I see in your review that you've have your triatlon under one Activity. How did you do that? Do you think this is a new feature of the 920XT? Or did you switch the sports during the race with the mode button? On the 910XT I don't have the 'transition' as a sport... And I've hoped that you can answer/activate your Phone with the watch, but probably that's not possible. Hopefully you can help me!

Nice to see Garmin stepping up the accuracy on their device, now i feel almost sad that i trated in a 620 for a fenix2, and then the fenix2 for the V800. V800 is by fair the best watch i have ever owned, but i do miss some of the Garmin functions. For this workout, did you use GLONASS, or was it GPS?

Strongly recommend to read all the different forums on internet before you guys purchase the Garmin 920xt watch. Numerous issues: wifi doesn't work half the times, bluetooth fails constantly (to sync activities) and swimming lap counting is very innacurate (compared to the previous model). I raised these issues to the Gamin support team (since January 2015) but they seem quite useless about finding solutions. It's a nice watch but it still has a lot of faults... I would simply recommend to just read a few forums before buying it.

+Ernest Asensio Blasco I never had a wifi issue neither a BT. May be issues were fixed before November 15, when I bought mine.

Unreal review! Thanks Ray, I got the model from your site's "My Winter 2015-2016 Sports Gadget Recommendations". This looks like the perfect tri watch. Do you have to press any buttons to switch between each discipline (including transitions) while in "triathlon" mode? Thank you!

Hello DCrainmaker.. I think I over charged my 920xt twice.. Will that damage the batteries or is there a special feature that automatically stops the charging once the bat is full?
@Schoenrowe10 жыл бұрын
I thought that the 920xt would be like the 910 but better with some added functionality. I wish they had kept the overall design of the buttons consistent with the 910xt. Now that I've got the 920 it's like having to learn a whole new computer. I still haven't figured out how to customize the data fields, or even if it's possible on the 920

Hello DC Rainmaker, great review. quick question. is there a way to setup the watch for a duathlon (run bike run, with transitions) or will it always be a swim bike run setup. Thank you...
@Dcrainmaker10 жыл бұрын
Yup! You can create a custom triathlon mode for that. Quick and easy, just pick only the sports you want ahead of time.
@gandriukas1007 жыл бұрын
Hi . Just wanna ask if the watch him self having hard monitor? Or you need one ,separately on your body ? Thanks
@hieupham2310 жыл бұрын
I was wondering how the Garmin knows when the transitions time starts and ends before each activity? Thanks!
@Dcrainmaker10 жыл бұрын
It's simply when you press the button to trigger the next sport. So you'll press a button going from Swim to T1, and then again from T1 to bike. And so on.
@hieupham2310 жыл бұрын
DC Rainmaker Thanks! That's easy enough.

What about that transition period between events, i.e., triathlon...how do you track it and categories it?
@michaelsmit93706 жыл бұрын
Hey man, can you help? I chose to follow a triathlon training plan on Garmin connect, and all the workouts sync to my watch except the swim workouts. I also have the 920xt. What am I missing?

Hi DC can you ask why 2000 steps seems to add up to 2000 Calories on the Garmin watch 920 and elsewhere This is a massive problem because it undermines real exercise calorie efforts. I'd say 2000 steps (casual) might kick 300-500 cals... maybe ... 2000 is a tough ask 2hrs on a bike. There has to be a change ... maybe this is the difference between kcals or cals ... but I know you've addressed this ("it's a mess") ... but pedometer cals should be honest. Thanks, I know iwatch play this game but cals need to be respected by Garmin if no one else. HBC.
@Dcrainmaker9 жыл бұрын
+Christo Christopher Is it showing 2,000 at the end of the day? Or when? If at the end of the day, remember that the Garmin's calories is including your baseline calories (being alive), thus the end of the day 2,000 calories would be quite normal.

What mode would I use for running on a track? Outdoor or indoor run?
@Dcrainmaker7 жыл бұрын
Outdoor run. But keep in mind that for most GPS devices, a track workout is one of the trickiest things to measure due to the near-constant turning and very tight tolerances.
@BrianNielsenCN7 жыл бұрын
Although Garmin watches aren't smart watches, they seriously need to learn a few things from smart watch makers like Apple and Huawei in regards to hassle free setup, use and integration. Garmin's products are... clumsy at best, despite still being the most comprehensive fitness trackers available.
