Can you please clarify the GTN coupon code discussed at the 7:30 mark? Are there databases updates included when purchasing a new GTN radio that are redeemed with this code?

Great tutorial... I'll hopefully having to go through this soon. Well, not "hopefully" with regards to the costs of the db... ugh that's pricey.

Great information - New to the G3X & getting close to panel completion & fire-up. What memory size cards should one order, 5 each?
@MidwestPanels2 жыл бұрын
8-32 GB cards are good.

I get that you would keep the non database card in the G3X, but I thought you were supposed to leave the database card in the GTN650? I seem to remember not having it in mine once and it was problem. Is this a difference between the 650 and 650Xi? Thanks and great video!
@MidwestPanels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Robert, You are correct, the GTN 650 did require it however the GTN 650Xi does not as it stores everything in the unit.

Since when is the database card left out of the GTN? Or did you use a different card for the nav database update?
@MidwestPanels9 ай бұрын
Since the GTN Xi series came out. You now load the database into the units. Older equipment needs the card still.

Hello. I would like to know how I can add more airfield runways in the G3X (map)? Thank you.

Ever notice how you don't actually get any support from Garmin if you are not a dealer?

If you remove the SD cards in the G3X, it won't save flight data or data to upload to FlyGarmin Log Books. I have a GTN 25. I should pull the SD after updating?
@MidwestPanels2 жыл бұрын
Yes pull the database cards from the G3X and insert blank ones for data logging.

Is it possible to update the Certified G3X Flight Charts and VFR/IFR charts one day early (i.e. BEFORE the current database expires), or do I have to wait until the old database expires?
@MidwestPanels5 ай бұрын
@@cessna177flyer3 the G3X does not have standby database, what you load is what it will be so it would be best to have the database ready and load when needed.
@cessna177flyer35 ай бұрын
@@MidwestPanels thanks for the response. I understand only one database at a time for the G3X, but I don’t see a way to put the new database on a second SD card in order to have it ready to go in the airplane when the old database expires. Garmin won’t let me install the new database until it becomes current. That seems like a HUGE flaw. And thanks for your videos. They were a huge help in learning how to fly behind my G3X/750Xi/GFC500. ******Edit******* I was finally able to update the G3X to the new cycle one day before the current database expired. In another forum, some folks stated there was a recent problem with the Garmin server, so perhaps in the future I’ll be able to update to the new cycle even earlier than one day prior.

Thanks! After Hours of searching, now I’m confident I can cracjk the code and actually find my GTN750XI and G3X system ID’s! Now if I could just find a way to have the G3X Touch display “% Engine Power” the way the old G3X Legacy model does🤷🏼♂

As long as you have a MAP sensor installed you can.

What size SD cards do you recommend?

Really anything up to a 32GB. We typically use 16GB.

You're telling me that $13000 GTN doesn't come with the databases already installed?
@AlecThilenius Жыл бұрын
Few things frustrate me more than the price of avionics. Not only do you first pay $50k (the price of an entire luxury car) for some hopelessly outdated computer hardware, you then have to pay a grand a year for data that the US government collects on the taxpayer's dime. (Geo-referenced plates, terrain data, airport data, it's all freely provided by the FAA/USGA). It's just... wrong.
@bookingsessential3 ай бұрын
And exactly how are you going to gather up and correctly present the Government collected data in a single time-critical accessible source ?? You do it cheaper and I'll buy. I hear you though... I honestly rely on my Internet Driven device as much as my builtin Garmin devices (except autopilot :) ) Starlink sounds good but... it all needs to be immediately accessible and builtin... just like the "old-Skool" paper based flightbag
@AlecThilenius3 ай бұрын
@@bookingsessential It's all readily available online, and you can easily fit the data on a $20 SD card. No joke, google how to download USGA height-map data (used for "synthetic vision"), or FAA geo-referenced approach plates. All free, all paid for by the tax payer. Garmin just downloads those, then turns around and sells them at obscene prices.
@ericbuhrendorf2 жыл бұрын
Great video, horribly antiquated technical process. Garmin needs to make this possible through a store on device or at worst through a modern mobile smart phone app.
@StepAttitude2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was exactly what I was thinking. That, and why is that data so expensive?
@ericbuhrendorf2 жыл бұрын
@@StepAttitude The expense is just a simple supply and demand model… the market is small and they are the leader.
