Thanks for sharing. I’m installing in my Archer and wondered about the old fuel gauges.

Nice video, installed one of these as well. I’m sure someone has since chimed in already, but you’ll need a GTP 59 OAT probe to get the density altitude calculations you’re wanting. It’s pricey at about a half an aviation monetary unit. (500)

I think the setting of the ranges on the various gauges by the installer is better imo. The ones like JPI that are set at the factory charge money and you need to ship the unit back if there's a change or a mistake. As an example, in my Comanche there's a small "red" part of the RPM range, but that no longer applies with my 3 blade prop. Also you need to provide the manufacturer with "proof" from documentation of what the ranges should be which is a hassle. I'll take the small amount of extra work to allow it to be configurable in the plane.

I bought a pair for a twin. Yes, lots of sensors to buy and yet another temp probe to install. Looking forward to seeing them in action. Thank you for the video!

I went to an engine monitor, I had to replace the senders. Much better after that. With the original senders, the fuel reading would suddenly go to zero and then recover.

I am installing one now and like you I am doing it with my A&P. Why did it need a software update? To have the software update done all you had to do was go to a Garmin dealer? Awesome video! Thanks for making it.

I believe Garmin makes bulk purchases of products from an offshore factory, all packaged up, and then does not open the packages to update the firmware before shipping. So even though the GI275 is brand new from Garmin, it may have been manufactured 2-3 years ago. Garmin gives their dealer the tools to update the firmware, so if you don't buy from a local dealer, you bypass this step. This is what happened to me on my FS210. There's a lot of pressure to get product out the door, only to make it actually work later on via firmware updates.

I heard you mention Tea, South Dakota. I used to go there sometimes as a kid.

I like the red instrument lighting.

Does the fuel pressure stay still on the new 275. I have an erratic fuel pressure gauge. My edm 830 doesn’t have pressure just flow.

What you reckon a dual g5+gi275+ gnx 375 install costs for a mid tier panel upgrade?
@JS-lg7vm3 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that you bought your 275 at a discount. I have heard that going to Oshkosh you are able to get great deals...Is this what happened in your case? Also, you have dual G5's - but you kept your vacuum system? And finally, after looking at your temps - have you considered GAMI injectors? Just wondering because they claim to even out CHT's across all cylinders and increase fuel mileage - I am not exactly sure if I have that right. Thanks for the info!!!

I had to keep the vacuum system to run my old artificial horizon which is coupled to my autopilot. I have not looked into gamijectors. Kind of related to that though.. I would like to get sure fly electric magnetos.

@@kylegoeman5237 Interestingly, you can run an old Piper A/P with the 275's - but not with the G5's (as you know). This is another tough question since the new A/P's like the GFC 500 are simply incredible. I am leaning towards dual G5's and the GFC 500 - most bang for the buck. I was told that removing the vacuum system saves roughly 30 lbs, which I could use since I have factory AC. BTW: I am installing the SureFly Electronic ignition in my Arrow on my left impulse (starting mag) on 4/12/21. Frankly, I am tired of dealing with the starting issues. Will be happy to let you know the results.

@@JS-lg7vm Just curious how the Sure fly is working out for you?
@JS-lg7vm3 жыл бұрын
The SureFly Ignition is absolutely the single best purchase that I have made for my Arrow. Reason being - all previous starting issues are a thing of the past. It now starts easily no matter what the situation. As for the other benefits - such as smoother running or better fuel economy - I am not sure of those claims. I did install the vacuum advance feature - however, I think to achieve better fuel economy - you need to be at higher altitudes, like 7 or 8,000 feet or higher, which I haven't done yet.

I am completely upgrading the panel in my turbo arrow iii. I have also been considering the sure fly magneto as well as the turbo plus. The stc only allows for installation of one magneto. Iam curious if a backup battery system were available, if there would be an added advantage to have both mags installed.
