Garmin GT52HW-TM Transducer Installation - Trolling Motor Mount

This is how to install the Garmin GT52HW-TM transducer (check it out here: amzn.to/2M5EXto) on a cable steer trolling motor. This transducer provides High Wide CHIRP sonar, DownVu and SideVu CHIRP imaging sonar. It is a perfect transducer for freshwater fishing where it will be used on a trolling motor mount due to the compact size.
Install time is about 30-45 mins and only basic hand tools are required.

Does that trolling motor skeg blocks the radar ping and cause any interference? Because it’s kind of over the transducer a bit. I want to know cause I’m going to set mine up just like yours. Let me know thanks.

I had no issue at all doing it this way. I have never seen trolling motor skeg block the signal so you should be good

I have the same trolling motor and I installed the same transducer today. I noticed that the transducer rubes the trolling motor mount wartime I deploy and retrieve the motor. Have you seen any issues with yours? It’s causing small scratches.

Have you had any issue with interference? I have mine wired, set up and ran almost exactly the way you have. But still get interference. Have tried with it wired to trolling battery, on its own battery, running wires down opposite side of trolling wires, grounded Scag, only way i can clean up interference is by adjusting gain to around 70%. Which is ok i guess. Was just wondering if you have ran into this issue and what you have done differently

I haven't had any problems like that with my set up. I have run into it before and had to replace a Lowrance unit because of it, and one time it was my trolling motor that was causing it. As soon as I got a new motor problem went away

after having this for a while does it work good? I have been reading about the cv52 now include with the 7sv doesnt show true down scanning. wondering if it is worth finding one with the gt52 instead

+Carter Custom Painting LLC It's still the best transducer I have ever used. It's extremely clear in all modes. I would certainly recommend finding a GT52 because you are correct the CV52 is not the same as it doesn't have a dedicated DownVu element

Thanks! you use that with the 7sv? the price is right for it compared to lowerance. I did find one with the gt52 transducer on ebay for 400

I am so confused. do you see in front of you or from the trolling underneath your boat to the back? the transducer is not mount the same way as in the back I've noticed on mine? Do I see up in front of me? Am i reading the graph from left to right?

This transducer gives you side imaging so it'll look left and right of the transducer. I mounted mine on a trolling motor so if the motor was at 90° to the bow that would mean the transducer is looking ahead and behind the boat, not left and right.

You shouldn't have a problem. Measure it up to be sure and as long as you have 6" you are good
