Hi Jumble. Thanks again for an informative video. It's opened up a whole new curiosity for me. A video just listing all the accessories that work with the Garmin Instinct would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your video! Here in India, temperature reading does not matter since it's mostly hot throughout the year!!

Hi, new Forerunner 245 owner with a tempe sensor here. I can connect to the sensor just fine, but since the FR245 doesn't have a built-in temperature sensor, I don't seem to have this widget that you show in the video. Is there a way to install this Garmin widget or do I need to install a third-party widget from the IQ store??

interesting do you know if the one on the watch would that be body temperature as that is what looking for as interested in doing tech what can help with the current situation thanks

The thermometer sensor on the watch is not for body temperature but more for room (area) temperature. It works well, but is similar to other watches with this feature (i.e. Suunto, Casio, etc.) in that because it is on your wrist, your body temperature can skew the degrees a little. So for a truly accurate room temperature reading they recommend taking the watch off of your wrist for about 3 minutes to get your reading. I don't know of any smart watch that can read your actual body temperature. Hope this helps.

@@JUMBLE2015 especially when it's cold outside your body warms up the temperature sensor inside the watch. Yesterday I did a run with temperature around 2-5 °C and my watch says the minimum temperature was 23 °C, so it's neither the temperature of the ambient nor my body temperature. I'm just wondering which might be the best place to put the tempe while hiking so it doesn't warm up by direct sun nor by my body 🤔
@JUMBLE20152 жыл бұрын
@@Morbit That's a tough question. I can tell you with my Tempe I clip it to my backpack. I try to put it in a spot that will not catch a lot of sunlight or be up against my body. It seems to work fine. I have read where others place it on their shoe laces or under the brim of their cap.

Hi can it incorporate the recorded temp data on the garmin track?

Thanks for the review! Do you know if the température of an activity shown in Garmin comes from the Tempe or the built in sensor ? And do you know if it affects the battery life ?
@pk33 жыл бұрын
If Tempe is connected during activity it will record the Tempe’s data for the activity.

Received a new Tempe for Xams. I have it connected to my Instinct….however when I go and look at the temperature the temp in all 3 windows is -20, and it hasn’t changed from -20. I’ve deleted and added the Tempe again to my Garmin as well as removed the battery for 45 mins and reinstalled. Still says -20 Any advice?

Does the Tempe sensor stays connected all the time, or you have to press something to reconnect it every time you want to read the temperature? I played with an Instinct and a Tempe and I remember that it failed to remain connected. I have bought my Tempe to use it with my Samsung phone. So far it works great, I don't have to press anything, but there aren't too many phones with ant+ these days, unfortunatley.
@JUMBLE20153 жыл бұрын
Mine does not stay connected. . . .so anytime I want to check the temperature using the Tempe I have to switch to it. However it usually connects relatively quick with no issues (as long as it is in range)
@BFmeister2 жыл бұрын
So you always have to navigate to settings and connect when you want to use it unless youre in activity mode? What were they thinking... there should be at least an option to stay always connected. Thanks for your tutorial vids they are very helpful. :)

@@BFmeister That's my complain. And they didn't fix this issue for Fenix 7 either, the latest and most expensive Garmin, which is silly.

Saludos. Saludos
@JUMBLE2015 Жыл бұрын
The watch does have a built in thermometer sensor which shows temperature. It also can connect to your cell phone to show weather data and current temperature from the weather app on your cell phone (two totally different things). Only the weather temperature value can be shown as a data field on the watch face, to see the watches sensor temperature you have to use the temperature glance/widget.

Saludos

Thank you for the video. But why should we once pay something for the none working temperature sensor that is trapped between the Garmin watch and our wrist, and also another 30 dollars for another sensor? Garmin should provide the clients with this extra sensor, we should not pay twice .....Also the Altimeter sensor of Garmin Instinct Solar has problem for the same reason. so this sensor had to also acquire the altitude. But it doesn't

The temperature not being accurate is not unique to Garmin. It's just a matter of the watch melding with your body heat. Casio has had this function as well for years. The function is designed to work best when the watch has been off of you wrist for a bit. Yes that kind of defeats the purpose, but it is reality. With Casio you can set the temperature to try and account for this, but it's still only so accurate based on a number of factors.

You don't have to pay for anything. You decide for yourself :P

Thanks for the video ! If you use it for hiking, I wanted to say : last weekend I used Garmin Instinct Solar for Hiking for the first time, and this stupid function dissapointed me totally! It seems like that to be able to get any GPS signal, it should only be inside the city!!! just like a cellphone! as soon as I went between the mountains, like one kilometer away I noticed the Hiking Timer is stopping all the time, I mean, most of the time !!! only sometimes it was able to catch my movements, and then connected all the lost paths with straight lines !! What a stupid over rated watch !! anyway good for running inside the city! the other thing I would like to ask you to talk about , is the Strength function. I did some push ups and despite the manual, it correctly showed me the worked muscles. I have not tried other muscles and don't know if it is really able to catch up what muscles I'm working out. Also ,shall you please explain the difference between : Expedition, Navigate and Track me functions ?
@pk33 жыл бұрын
I know it is an old comment, wanted to reply any way. May be you will let me know how is your watch doing now. Pretty sure something is wrong with your device specifically. The gps functionality works great even away from cities hiking in the woods getting you turn by turn navigation if you have uploaded a route that you planned to hike.

The temperature sensor is more than a "little bit" effected by wearing it. If I was dying to know the ambient temperature and the Instinct was all I had, I'd take it off for ten minutes. Do you really need to spend on one more electronic gimmick--with a battery? Buy a couple outdoor thermometers. They work for years, no charging. 🚫🔋

Isn't the built-in temperature reader for body temperature? I can tell you now, it's not 28 degrees in my home or office. It's definitely body. Separately, the weather section gets the temp from your phone. I have no idea what temperature you are refusing to
@JUMBLE201511 ай бұрын
Not for body temperature. And yes your wrist can skew the temperature. It kind of depends on the person. . . for me it seems to skew it about 3 degrees. . . for others it can be more or less. The Garmin site recommends taking the watch off. . . then check the temperature after 5 minutes to get an accurate reading (pretty much the same recommendation from other watches with a temperature sensor like Suunto, Casio, etc.). Casio lets you calibrate it, so that you can adjust for your body heat but unfortunately Garmin does not. And yes the weather data is all from your phone. This video might help more regarding the temperature widget - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnjPmpWempyriKc
