Garmin R10 - Home Tee Hero - FULL REVIEW

Hey All! So I figured out why a couple of these are going left with the alignment. It isn’t the unit or Home Tee Hero. But just the fact that on course naturally I would setup right of centre for compensate for my draw off the tee. Home Tee Hero automatically sets you up straight down the middle so naturally that would make my shots go left of target. So it’s accurate here also. You can adjust your target line but here I didn’t bother to do that. Once I did, it worked perfectly!

i was going to suggest adjusting target line, i also fight a draw all round and aim 10 yards right of the pin

@@kevinconnolly754 yeah 100% correct and I believe that is probably what most people are dealing with in using the R10. On course we subconsciously just aim 10 yards right whereas the Garmin has us aimed directly down the middle so of course most would go left from there.

Hi David, Love your videos on the simulators. Can you answer a question for me. What is the difference between the Garmin R10 42,000 courses graphics and playability compared to the Rapsodo MLM2PRO’s 30,000 courses graphics? Not liking the MLM2PRO graphics currently.

honestly neither graphics are good but Garmin probably better for the built in application

I also get that pull issue when playing a HTH round (mostly with the driver) and don't see it on the range app. Seen others have this issue on Reddit. My driver also comes up short at times as well. I do really enjoy the R10 overall though. Great video! Thanks!

Thanks Jordan, interestingly enough I went to the course the other day which is the first time in a little bit because it’s been raining here and similar strikes that I thought on the Garmin should have gone straighter actually went left on course too. Could be something in my swing at the moment and just closing the face. Sometimes I think the graphics make it look a little further left than what it actually is 😆

Hi David,thanks for the video.great spot you have there. I've been looking T buying one of these but can't find if you have to buy a subscription to access the courses on home tee hero and driving range? Also the same with the E6 connect app? I know the e6 there is a premium option to unlock the top tier courses.cheers

You get a great free subscription with e6 that includes about 5 courses and loads of practice areas and driving range etc. with home tee hero you get the driving range free and a 30 day free trial with the courses but after that it’s subscription for the courses. Also with e6 you have to have Apple OS and it doesn’t work on android. The unit itself is fantastic

@@samthomas42 you’ll get the driving range and some features of home tee hero free but just not all of the courses. I think it’s $14.99 per month or something but e6 is free with the 5 courses and loads of practise areas

Hi david, love the content mate. I've only used my r10 at the local footy fields so far but enjoying the unit immensely. Do you think that the further you can get the ball from the hitting net would raise the accuracy of the unit even more ??. I am planning on purchasing a net that's 7m long by 4m high and hoping to have around 15 feet of flight available for the garmin to read🤔 or is this just a waste of time ? also have you dialed in a preferred distance from the ball back to the unit ? i found 7 foot worked a treat

Hey Kevin, thank you mate! And yeah I find that about 7 foot from the ball works well. In terms of a net I’d say just go for a net that can handle a full driver swing over the size first. That way you can use all your clubs. I’ve only got an eBay net and I’m going to build my own so that I know it can handle the driver swings. Then I can really practise using the course rounds properly without having to dial anything back

@@davidmaxfieldgolf Just hang a large sheet over the back of the net. The sheet will absorb most of the force of the ball hitting the net.

I have my unit set up the key seems to be a good T square a laser pen then a dot or line on the net, I put my PRGR next to the R10 on a tri-pod plumbed just behind the R10 say 1feet. Not 2-4 yards on the range mode. so dead happy with the R10 readings too. Home-tee although is basic is very addictive.

Couldn’t agree more! Also the update on Home Tee Hero has been brilliant. I’m able to see proper draws and fades now with correct spin numbers as well. I even think the unit almost work better hitting into a net or screen as well.

Hi David, nice video and i really enjoyed it few things, your setting were put on meters but you talked about yards, thats why the pictures showed it going more left then the number said also when you start a course in Home Tee Hero it has a check box for including chip shots, i believe thats what giving you the automatically 3 put when you hit just out side of the green, but i might be wrong on that one

Hey mate, thanks for the comment 😊 and yes could be. I really like the HTH software from Garmin but I do think that the Awesome Golf App which is now compatible is better. Have you seen that one?

Unfortunately I don’t think you can. But what you can do is run it through Apple TV and get a projector that shoots to a screen. Either that or HMDI cable to a spare Tv 📺

It’s definitely accurate. Don’t worry about the vids from a month ago or when the device came out. There has been significant software updates and it’s spot on

I tried mine for the first time yesterday and it seems to be 15-20 yard shorts on distances, everything else seems accurate. I guess its potluck whether you get a decent one.

@@davidmaxfieldgolf PW is going about 105-110 with Garmin R10, normally I hit around 125. My 7i is going around 140, where normally i hit around 160. I think the longer the club the worst it gets, my Driver is only going about 210-220, compared to my average of 240-250 carry. Long iron's are all about 20 yards short. Pitch shots seem fine. I have only used it for 1 day, will try again later see if I can figure out the problem.

It’s comes with basic driving range and a couple courses but then a cheap subscription to unlock all 42,000 courses worldwide which is definitely worth with.

Hey David, put the "tarp" on the inside of the net so that you hit it first rather than having it on the outside. This helps stop the ball and makes for less wear on the actual net. BTW, great videos! Thank you!

I see a lot of inaccurate data with my Garmin R10. They offer more data points at the same price point but is way off. As a scratch player if the data is not accurate than it is useless. Shots with a lot of curvature tend to see data way off.

Have you updated the unit through Garmin express? Also you should really have them on a stand with a spirit level to make sure it’s flat. I notice that helped more than anything. Even if you think you’re putting it on a flat surface it often won’t be level and they’re not like trackman which have a built in level.
