The Garmin R10 Home Tee Hero mode allows you to play a virtual round of golf at a course rendered with 3D technology through the Garmin Golf App. There are over 42,000 courses available. Add another level of fun and competition to your game with the free Garmin Golf app. Download it to your phone to compete with your friends and fellow golfers. Each round can take on a tournament feel on any of more than 40,000 courses worldwide.
Garmin is in the launch-monitor game, introducing the Approach R10, a lightweight, budget friendly launch monitor that can be used indoors or outdoors.
The Approach R10, which retails for $600, tracks a dozen metrics, including club-head speed, face angle, path angle, angle of attack, ball speed, launch angle and direction, spin rate and axis, apex height, smash factor, carry distance and total distance.
Garmin says the unit is accurate to plus-minus 3 mph on club head speed, plus-minus 1 mph on ball speed, plus-minus 1 degree on launch angle and direction, and then plus-minus 5 yards on carry distance.
The launch monitor can also be paired with the Garmin Golf app's Driving Range mode, which can help identify areas of improvement, record video clips. In the Driving Range mode, golfers can track stats for each club in their bag and get a shot-dispersion chart, while using recorded video clips to overlay stats and find areas of improvement.
Additionally, with the purchase of a premium membership ($10 per month or $100 per year, with a free 30-day trial available), Approach R10 users can use the Home Tee Hero golf simulator in the Garmin Golf app to play virtual versions of 42,000 courses. Premium members get access to members-only simulator tournaments as well. The Approach R10 is also compatible with the E6 Connect library of playable photorealistic courses. Premium members can also use cloud storage for video clips shot on the app.
The Approach R10 Included with the Approach R10 are a tripod stand and a phone mount that golfers can easily attach to a golf bag or place on the ground. The unit charges with an included micro USB connector, which can provide up to 10 hours of battery life. The unit has an IPX7 rating, which means it can stand up to rainy conditions as well.

Found an open box r10 online for 417 after tax or a very good condition mevo+ for about 1150 after tax. Went with the R10 (home simulator, days I only go on the range and don’t play), open box g80, shot scope pro lx+ rangefinder and tracker, rukket rukknet pop up net, mat, 13ft wellputt putting mat and a few puttout accessories instead of the mevo+. I think the other accessories will develop my game much more than the mevo+ I’ve heard the r10 is really fun which is what I wanted plus something a little more accurate than my g80

I love my R10 but I feel like my distances are a bit off. I'm sure it's mainly due to my bad striking since I generally put alot of spin through most of my clubs. I'm sure that messes up the algorithm significantly. Other than that, I love reviewing my stats and playing different courses on Home Tee Hero. The game sim is defintley not nice to me but I enjoy it. Awesome vid!! Keep up the content. I'd like to see you play more sim courses and see how your shots vary. Great videos! New subscriber... just purchased a Garmin R10 and am in the process of rigging my home simulator. My question is about lighting and what to use. I have a portable garage I will be putting up to house the setup. With an inexpensive projector casting from an android phone, what overhead spotlighting should I have to keep the projector as bright as possible and still see what I'm hitting?

Since r10 doesn’t need light you can really do whatever you feel works well for you. Look for narrow beam type bulbs this will help keep the light less ambient.

How long have you been testing the r10? How do you find the updated version for accuracy for flight path. I've seen other reviews saying accuracy for ball flight in inconsistent. Would love to get one for practice but if it cant trace the ball flight seems a bit useless. What are your thoughts. Thanks

Since the beginning. It is improved for sure but yes you can see inconsistencies. You just have to understand it's going to be the case for $599. It really a good value but no it doesn't measure spin axis so has not idea for gear effect etc. Thanks for watching!

I just purchased the R10 from Top Shelf Golf, they are getting a new shipment of units and confirmed mine will ship this Friday. Question on shot tracer when utilizing the E6 subscription. Does ball flight / tracer look better on E6 compared to Home Tee Hero? I think both have their use, but the ball flight isn't super appealing on HTH.

As of right now from my testing only the Home Town Hero on course play is in widescreen, not the standard range. You can use others like E6 and Awesome Golf etc. of course in widescreen.

Great video! I know you have a ton of experience with different devices and sim softwares. I want to get a simulator and be able to play golf and have fun with it AND train/improve with it. My set up is outdoors hitting into a net and the occasional range. Would you tell me which device/sim software you would go with? I definitely want club path data for training and be able to play games, etc. I’m definitely not interested in a GC Quad or TM bc of the cost. Taking into account the cost of the unit, playability (what it offers), and the annual cost of playing the simulator, what unit & sim software is the best all around unit that’s good for hitting outdoors into a net? So every phone is different. I would suggest googling your phone. My iPhone 12 Pro is an odd one. It is 19.5:9. My screen is 16:10 and is 8' tall and 12' wide.

Straight from Titleist is where I got mine. But, do not use them with R10! R10 does not measure spin axis and the metal can actually cause issues with the readings.

I would have bought one but you cannot get one here in Australia and second hand units are going for 30 to 40 % more than new . Went with a Earnest sports ESB1 for now just to start getting distances .

Hi Jay, I purchased the R10 this weekend and it will come with 1YR HTH sub. I have a projector and a Chromecast. Will it be good for projecting on my 10x10 screen? I'm afraid the image will look like a mobile in portrait mode 😂 Gonna need a Pc and GsPro I guess but I want to leverage that first year of HTH and figure it out later. Thx.

does the R10 read club head speed or ball speed to give data? the Optishot2 only reads club head speed and face so technically can play without a ball, or with a foam ball. Can I play R10 with foam balls?
