Just want to say a big thank you. I have purchased a net, garmin and managed to set it up in my garage with results that a high handicapper can be happy with. But the biggest thing is my teenage son and 7 year old daughter can go back to practicing every day (there local course and many others in the area were destroyed in a cyclone in February). What about club path and face angle? Pretty important information for improving the swing. Without it you are guessing what went wrong. Still the Garmin for my money.

That data is important but often that can confuse people too without a coach to tell you exactly what you’re doing. For example you can have a good club path and bad body movement so as much as I love that feature, to me the ball is the best coach and I definitely focus more on ball speed

Nice one thank you David, good thorough honest test, has made me feel a whole lot better for buying the r10, I knew from your previous shows it was good, but to be that close on the numbers is good for me, have now converted my lounge into simulator but can only hit sw-4hb due to low ceiling, still the best thing I have built in ages, anyone out there thinking of doing it, should.keep them coming mate.

Great video mate. This is why I got rid of my r10. I generally play a push draw and I found the r10 with 7 iron up was showing the ball blocking out to the right. I started working harder and harder to bring it back 🤣 ended up snap hooking everything the course. Would love to see a comparison between mevo + and skytrak as it’d be a fairer test.

Another great video! I was pleased to see how well the Garmin app held up vs. Awesome Golf, which I am on the fence paying for. I am hoping Garmin can do something to dial in the spin axis with an update, but it seemed like it picked up draws better than Awesome Golf. I would be curious though to see an R10 comparison video between the app and Awesome Golf in the future.

Great comparison. Just one suggestion total dispersion numbers over a number of shoots is really were the comparison that I would be interested. Two different units using two different technologies. Outliers in numbers are going to be present. Without comparing the datasets in representative sample of each unit are you gong to be able to identify a true outlier versus datasets and units collecting the shot differently

Thanks David … I’m committed to using the R10 and Awesome Golf for the time being. I enjoy my set up and the total cost of the setup was just under $2000. The savings on avoiding buying the skytrac allows me to buy the DeWiz swing. So let’s revisit swing analysis again. If you can also play more virtual golf competitions as this seems to be a future for a lot of us that can’t make the course every week. I look forward to your clips so well done

Really good job as we have come to expect and the results once again are pretty impressive from the MLM2 Pro. I personally can live with my irons going 5-10 yrds. shorter for $1800+ CDN but that's just me. I saw another vid of GC Quad vs MLM2 Pro with all drivers and the carry numbers were very similar although strangely the Rapsodo consistently had the launch at 1.5-2 degrees lower for some unknown reason. My local range has installed Trackman units in every bay so out of curiosity I took my Garmin R10 along to compare the numbers. I'm very pleased to say that the ball speed on the Garmin was accurate to within 1mph on almost every shot with different clubs throughout the bag. But the Awesome Golf app was a bit more generous on the carry distances generally giving approximately 10m more carry despite the ball speed being nearly identical. So maybe Awesome Golf is a little generous on carry distance. This was using pretty crappy range balls so all the distances were short compared to a premium ball. The Trackman has a setting where it converts the numbers to those you would expect to see from a premium ball which was giving much better numbers for me, especially with driver. I found I could emulate this simulation with the Garmin using Awesome Golf by setting the launch monitor altitude to 2,000m. It was then giving me numbers with the range balls much closer to what I would expect from a premium ball and pretty similar to the Trackman 'premium' conversion numbers. Whichever way you look at it, fir the price the Garmin performed very well against the much more expensive Trackman unit. So despite it's known shortcomings in terms of side spin axis and shot shaping I'm still very happy with it.

So David firstly great videos keep them coming. I have the r10 and it’s ok but I’m not comfortable in the ball flight. On course I very rarely fade but I always do with r10. I am using a net and am outside. Would rct balls correct the flight? Also I have the budget for skytrak and am looking to move indoors. With this in mind would you recommend skytrak over Garmin?

@@bank5ter I own both. If you can afford a Skytrak I 100 percent think you should upgrade. Garmin is a good little unit if thats what you can afford but you are losoing out on some accuracy. You are not losing accuracy on skytrak. you can trust the results. The ones that you can't trust are obvious like the one in the video that shot out 13 degrees right on Skytrak. I get 1 or 2 out of 100 that are wrong but obviously so.

Great video! Here’s my takeaway from watching the last few, do I have it right? 1. MLM2 Pro better spin axis / shot shape reading than Garmin? 2. Awesome golf is actually probably not better anymore for R10? 3. Garmin has the distances dialed in better than MLM2 Pro? So if you’re stuck on R10 Vs MLM2 Pro… difference in performance comes down to what you need more? Accurate spin axis or accurate yardages?

I think the MLM2PRO was pretty accurate with the yardages as well but sometimes the ball speed was down. 😊

Indoors I am constantly 15-20 yards short on carry compared to a PRGR and also carry distances at a range. I hit fairly low shots so that could be the problem? Any thoughts. I am 7' from Garmin, 9' + to screen, and calibrate. However using E6 and Garmin Ranges. Going to try free AG trial next. THanks for your videos. Been neat to see and imagine it takes a tone of time / work to put together.

Great video mate but I thought you were getting good, accurate numbers on Awesome Golf vs Skytrak using a 7 iron it was the wedge and 9 iron that were different. Was expecting you to hit the wedge and 9 iron on the Garmin Golf software but you hit 7 iron that was already accurate. I did some shot shaping here with awesome golf but I feel that if you’re looking for that then it does struggle to get the hook and fade shots but the low and high shots it’s picks up well

I love the R10 and I havent even used the RCT balls yet. My issue has always been with draws/fades/hooks and so on. No matter how hard I try I can never get the that thing to hook like I want (Yes I have the shot in the bag). So I find the side spin to be inaccurate and random. I have the MLM that I haven't even opened yet so now I'm torn between the two. I hear you have to pay for rapsodo premium yearly just to have the opportunity to use Awesome Golf is an absolute joke if that's true and a def deal breaker for me.

When people say that r10 needs to be sitting same level as mat, do they mean the bottom of the unit itself? Or the bottom of the tripod legs? I would imagine r10 has problems with those low hooks because your body is in the way of the ball so can’t detect it as long to collect the data needed. I’ve notice the high draw and push draw shots you compare shot shape is way closer to the skytrak.

I think may be similar to why it doesn’t pick up some really low chip shots, club head moving slow ball stays same height roughly so the radar is blocked. Our body’s are out of the way yes, but if you start the ball left, when you rotate the ball may be blocked from radar after 4ft in the air and not be detected the full distance to screen Maybe why those pull fades look like double crosses and not a fade? It only detects the ball going left but not back to the right as well. Either way, it’s close enough for most

I hate to be political but it’s not really a question that I could straight out answer. There are benefits to both and it really depends on the person. I’d honestly be happy with either. The fact that the MLM2PRO measures side spin is a massive bonus and also the option to be able to go back and see your swings recorded is very good. Then the Garmin also has its benefits with being able to use a metal dot on any ball that you’d like to get measured backspin on and has the free e6 courses if you want course play

I have an R10, I took it to the local pro-shop when I was being fit for a new driver. While spin, direction etc was bang on with their optical system it was consistently showing 20-40 yards short compared to the optical system. I have taken it out to an open driving range and had the same results. I have calibrated it before each use as well. I had it on the same level, I have it on a base with a laser to insure alignment. Any suggestions? It consistently reads short with all clubs. I am using the Garmin App, do you think it could be the app not the unit?
