Cats domesticated themselves. We had nothing to do with that. One day they just thought "Man, those dogs have it good. Let's get in on that." and just started living with us and we just started feeding them. They've also not evolved, so they are literally the same as they were in the wild.
@personb9034 Жыл бұрын
Never heard that dog point, sounds kinda weird. I always just heard that it's cuz of the symbiotic relationship of cats eating rodents which are pests to us. They get food, and our food stores are protected.

My buddy's married to a Thai woman and they live in the north of Thailand, basically in a jungle, and they have a pet parrot that's more like a companion. It comes home every night and chills with the family, but every morning flies away to do... bird stuff, I guess. I wouldn't want to put a bird in a cage to keep for myself, but if I lived in a place like that I'd probably try to get a bird friend like that.

My Mum and Stepdad had birds when they lived in Aussie. They had two giant aviaries in the backyard. One of the largest birds, an Australian king parrot named Flash, would fly away, sometimes for hours, but always came back before night fell. Apparently he was scared of the dark, so much so he had a night light in his cage. He would have to come inside during thunderstorms because he was so scared. He could also swear in 6 languages.

11:45 I had a very similar experience. I live in a flat and one day my mom came to me and said "Wanna see something cool?" then she showed me that on our ledge,outside in one of our plant pots were bird eggs(mind you that we live on the fourth floor). It didn't bother us so we let the eggs be. So slowly but surely we actually saw those eggs hatch and see the fletchlings grow into what looked like teens, we only met their parents once and they were surprsingly pretty chill, so far to even touch the babies(we obviously washed our hands afterwards) sadly we had to force them out by then because the residential complex were sending out information that they were going to cast a giant net to prevent birds from coming in because other neigbours were complaining about bird noises.(But they never knew it came from our part.) What's more saddening they tried to come back again but obviously they couldn't stay or they'll be trapped but if it wasn't for the net we would have let them stay for long as they wanted

It’s so weird to me to hear people went NIMBY mode on birds (I always thought people either liked, or tolerated, birds since they’re free-roaming wild animals that normally prevent bugs from messing with people’s gardens and such)! 0_0 Don’t most flats usually not mind birds?

Joey’s so right about the personalities becoming more obvious in cats when there’s a pair of them. We have two, we think they’re brothers or half brothers. Owl has a temper but is very smart, he opens doors and we’ve taught him tricks and he’s a menace to all the wildlife around from squirrels to attacking a fucking badger. He might allow you to pet him by flopping onto your lap, but if you do it wrong or for too long he will bite. He also scratches me every time we’ve been away for more than a day or two as he seems to blame me for the absence. But just once, to show he’s mad and then we’re good. Potato on the other hand is scared of everything, including mice, also the dead ones. He’s a sweet but simple soul so he can’t go outside alone, or he’ll get lost and we have to keep an eye on him all the time as he doesn’t seem to have any sense of depth and sometimes walks right off the couch to facepalm into the carpet. A lot of the time one of us puts him in our morning robe like a small kangaroo and carry him around with us and that’s when he seems the most content.

My family cat can open doors and get up and personal with you as long she knows who you are. Literally every time you sit down or lie down when she gets the chance she would jump onto you and just lie down on top of you begging for cuddles and you are force to do so 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The only major issues about this is then she starts what my family calls nesting which is when especially on a very soft service area she would dig her claws in and start chewing down while digging her claws even more in and she would do that even when she is sitting on someone so unless your wearing thick pieces of clothing you will feel those claws digging into. Also she is also quite sassy and knows when she wants something to eat, also she won’t hold back if some other cat invades her territory and starts to cause issues she would chase them out but if the cat is friendly she would generally be nice towards that cat

Cats are independent, killed off mice which both spread diseases & ate our grain stored food. Cats are also super clean as they groom themselves a lot and also try to poop in hidden places AND try to cover their poop and pee. At most, big alpha cats would mark places by spraying but still peed out of the way. We got self cleaning, tidy predators that ate the limiting factor(rats) of big city centers. Why wouldn't we love cats? We didn't even domesticate them, they adapted to living with us and domesticated themselves.
@kruby3091 Жыл бұрын
Apparently lions don't always cover their poop because they have no predators to hide from, but small cats are predators and prey so that's why they hide their poop in the wild lol

My uncle cuts the tips of feathers on one wing so that if our birds do try to fly away, they can't because they're unbalanced. But after a while, they kinda just don't fly that far away, so we don't have to do it anymore
@shubashuba9209 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if pet birds fly away and and never return because they never learned to recognize your house from the sky and have no way to distinguish between your house and the hundred others that look exactly like it. Maybe a good experiment would be to put a very unique landmark outside your house like a big colorful flag and let your bird get accustomed to the flag and then see if it has a higher chance of returning to your home after flying away.

Also cats, cats are so good at hunting birds.
@kulkuljator Жыл бұрын
Well, a few times I was put in a life-and-death situation because of dogs. Cats on the other hand never threatened my way of life and that's why I love them more. Especially because of my cat that acts like a dog. And the reason why birds are not flying away is quite simple as well. They understand that they are fed and taken care of by humans whilst in the wild they have to find food and shelter, and look out for predators. Small parrots, for example, are more likely to fly away and never come back because they are dumber and usually forget the path back home. Bigger birds do not have this problem and even if they fly away, they will just return back, something like outside cats. My grandmother's neighbour also has a cockatiel and it never flies away outside, mostly because one day she closed the window without realizing the parrot was still outside and it was sitting there are chirping for like 2 hours until it was let inside.

Have y’all never heard of clipping a birds wings? That’s why most pet birds don’t fly off. Certain feathers are removed that stop the bird from gaining enough lift to fly. It’s possible that it’s not as common now but that was a normal thing years ago.
@hajarmdn4883 Жыл бұрын
It's unfortunately still very common. But a lot if bird owners don't do it anymore. I dont clip my birds wings personally. But Im very careful about open doors and windows though. We've had some close calls but the birds don't seem to be that interested in flying off. One time I forgot that one of the cockatiels was perched on my shoulder and went out of the house. He didn't budge at all for the few minutes we were outside. Just looked around and went back to playing with my necklace

This was the standard at pet stores around me in Ohio 20 years ago, but the feathers of birds would get clipped in a way that they wouldnt not be able to fly very far - much like how chickens cant really fly. I think the clipping had to be done every now and then too, maybe by a vet, but idk for sure.

in case anyone is actually interested. Cats spread a parasite that is lives part of it's life cycle in the cat's prey. Mice, rodents, etc. It can also live infect humans. What the parasite does is change the carrier's brain chemistry to make it more attracted to cats. Typically so it's easier to be hunted by the cat, which then closes the loop in the parasite's life cycle. That is most likely why humans have almost always had some sort of attraction to/worship of feline species.

Dogs didn't really evolve. They are human made. Bread from wolfs by humans. Sometimes I look at these tiny dogs that barely can live at all and I get sad how humans did that to majestic wolfs. Robbed them of most of their brains and body in exchange for a simpler life in the custody of humans. "Humans don't deserve dogs." Yes, I agree, we don't. We bread their love of their masters into them. Anyway.

If my mothers dogs eat anything besides that specific feed they’ve been eating for the past month, even if a different kind of feed, forget actual meat or anything, they vomit and shit all over the house. We made the perfect dog, and it died in 1960s.

...I fucking hate this. Not telling anyone to stop loving their pet, but the facts that A LOT of people just fawn over animals just because is annoying af to me. I would understand if it was an actual wholesome and loyal pet but anything that comes close to the demanding shit the boys said without a give, I would just fucking pole them out of into the trash, no matter how cute they are. My grandparents always has a dog in their house (for extra security and companion should everyone be out) and I have been with 4 throughout my life and only one I really like and respect due to how it actually feel like a part of the family instead of, you know, just being a fucking dog (and tragic enough, it was the one suffered the most gruesome death). I understand liking animal, but NOT a single thing is just universally wholesome or loveable, so I'm always annoyed as hell when people just like "Aww, but it's an X, it's so cute tho". Even we human can be "animal", what would make these thing anything more? I have seen some pets who got doted on as hell so they act cute and all but a little thing doesn't go their way and they just maul the one who feeds them.

Do you realize animals are not the same as humans? They are not as intelligent and are innocent in that sense. A wild animal that attacks a human or even a domestic one isn’t doing it because they are inherently evil, it’s just instinct/nature or abuse from humans that cause it to act the way it does, they are not evil and we cannot blame them for that because it’s just natural, obviously we shouldn’t excuse bad behaviour of dogs or cats because it’s cute but at the same time we aren’t going to treat them like a criminal, that’s why they always say it’s the owner who needs to be trained to take care of the pet.
