Whitebeard did use haki on Aokiji, but Aokiji, being logia, opened a hole in his body to dodge. Since there was some debate in the comments, a little bit more information: 1. This is essentially a high level, risky dodge. Unlike non haki attacks which would just let him break and reform, he must dodge haki attacks. 2. Jozu used haki. Aokiji didn't dodge. 3. yes, this event specifically is not mentioned to be him opening a hole in his body to dodge, but it is possible and can be inferred from other events (spoilers). ---Aokiji did not breakaway like ice (couldn't), a hole opened in his body to let the spear through. The spear didn't poke a (smaller) hole through his chest. 4. WB can still use haki, even if he is old, even if it may be weaker than before. You'll see him use it later. 5. Later in the series, haki will be colored to remove ambiguity.

One thing to take away from this episode as well, is how Jozu shattered the concept of the Admiral’s being somewhat invincible (which is something a lot of us just assume as we watch the show) by not only inflicting damage on Aokiji but also looking down at him in that scene as well. Which is something that’s extremely cool in my opinion. This whole war really shifted the power scaling system in the OP universe and kinda flipped it on it’s head.

logia devil fruit users can shape shift their bodies in anyway they wish, aokiji as a logia is mostly inmune to everything, but if theres something he aint inmune to he can avoid getting hit by essentially shape shifting out of the way.

Take a close look at Aokiji when Whitebeard "stabs" him. Aokiji used his ice power to dodge the stab by opening a hole in his own body.

Regarding aokiji not dying. My understanding is that he moved his body out of the way of the blow, because he is logia he was able to do that and leave onto snow/ice for whitebeard to stab that wasnt his body. If whitebeard hit the real thing when Aokiji would have actually been hurt.

There are A LOT of ppl who hate garp for doing his job as a marine and not saving ace. Being a marine is not just a job for garp thats his dream,his path and his life. Its the same as luffy want to become a Pirate and dont want anyone to ruin his dream even his own family (garp) wont allowed it. So what happened with Aokiji: they did not clarify this so this could very well just be wrong, but in the higher levels of power in the one piece universe they are able to use multiple types of haki, one of them being the observation one which allows to sense the attacks from your opponent without seeing them, what Aokiji likely did is he used this observation haki and made a hole in his chest with his logia abilities, such is why Haki didn't affect him. Or Whitebeard just didn't use it, for whatever reason.
