I was at Ft. Ord for 3 years and called the ice plants ''prehistoric grass''...lol I am currently in the process of filing for retirement but, it it is being delayed due to the pandemic . As soon as i get things situated Monterrey is on my must visit list. I was too young to appreciate what a beautiful and historic area i was in at the time. Safe travels

I guess that I'll have to Google "ice plant" to find out about them! Hopefully, their not indigenous only to California! Obviously, they spread like wildfire, so they make excellent groundcover!! Besides being extremely pretty, I wonder if they have a scent?? I guess that I'll find out when I Google my questions. Those colors are so perfect for the coast! Orange, Yellow and Pink, now that's really nice!! Thank you for sharing the name of these sweet precious flowers!!

@@didibolter9362 Hi Didi, I gew up in the Monterey Bay and I always thought Ice Plant was indigenous to the area. About 10 years ago I found out it wasn't. Here is a quote from California State Parks "Iceplant was brought to California to stabilize soil. It was first planted along railroads in the early 1900s, and later used near highways until the 1970s. The U.S. Army planted it in Fort Ord to control erosion and drifting sands in the dunes." It was brought over from Africa and is an invasive but beautiful plant. I hope this information helps. ~Lucy

I’m a couple hours from there., I looked for you last month when I was in Lake Havasu City, AZ., use your tips on seeing the London bridge, went to the museum, the ladies there were very nice, that road construction was a pain in the next though, trying to navigate around it, I would love to meet you, I live in a 36 ft travel trailer
