I have a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 I got as a gift and for shallow coins it seems very good with the simple target ID listing several coins. It`s especially good to get a kid into detecting. If it says 25c it`s a quarter. I found a silver half dollar with it messing around in my sister`s yard and several other coins. It was fun to find coins again. You can mop up on shallow coins with one of these. I hope to get it in the hands of a kid who`s interested in detecting someday but for now it`s a great backup and loaner if someone wants to go detecting with me or needs to borrow one to find something they lost on the surface. I haven`t used a detector but once since 2000 when my detector was stolen. I borrowed the ancient mid-70s Whites detector in 2016 I had way back then that I`d sold to a guy in 1982. It still worked! I tried a Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 that I got on sale but it didn`t live up to the hype. It was a return so it was likely defective and only had a depth of 4-5 inches on coins in an air test. So I bought the Vanquish 340. I`m extremely impressed with it and don`t think it`s possible to buy another detector capable of what it can do for less than 500 dollars. I would be 100% confident that it could find loads of silver coins on old home sites. It can detect a 177 pellet at 5 inches. I had a Bounty Hunter in the 1990s that had a much smaller coil that had manual ground balance and all metal threshold mode that could detect number 6 lead shot at 3 inches. Found a lot of gold jewelry with it.

@@VegasDtech I understand some people are having issues updating. Hints I have read are use a Windows 10 machine, use the original cord supplied with the Apex and try a different port on the computer.

Hello, your comparative report is quite correct, only that you increase the discrimination of the iron for Garrett, and it will work well. I'd go with the Simplex because it's submersible, but the Vanquish I think is a little better for depth detection. Greetings from Argentina.

Hey LV7. Nice video, good review. I have an Apex with which I have done lots of hunting. It’s really quite capable once you have some hours on it and figure out it’s nuances, like any other machine. In the custom mode the detector performs much better in terms of tones heard if you turn OFF the iron audio in the custom mode, and notch out 0-25 and Set the iron volume to 1 or 2. When the iron audio is turned on, the detector seems to lose its ability to provide poly-phonic sounds, and the iron audio tends to overwhelm the other sounds, I hope they fix that in a future update.

I was expecting Garrett to have some updates but I didnt see anything.. I even bought the machine twice because I really wanted to keep it. Loved the style .. Very modern updated looking machine.. A huge step in the RIGHT direction!

@@josecanedo007 yes. I’ve been using the Apex since it was version 1.24, updated to 1.28.1 when it came out, May of 2021. Still using it. Ver 1.28 is better, but the Apex needs another update to fully unleash the potential of the Apex hardware. It’s a highly under-rated detector. Another update with some enhancements and new features might really rev up the sales of the machine.

If i get the 440 I will have all three Vanquish and I think next yr I will buy the sp24 coil for the simplex as from what I have seen this coil rocks.. The Apex to me would just be another detector sitting around the house and not getting much use.. So I tease mind on should I get it or should I just leave it alone..

i had both 440 and 540 and i really liked the 540 it had all the bells and whistles but used it less because of the Nox 600 supposed to be the elite machine. i was getting ridiculous with the detector collection

Yo bro I just subscribed cuz im just gettn into the detection game and have a vanquish 440 as well..my question how'd u get it to hit negative on the iron and junk?

if its iron (rusty junk) the 440 will give you a negative number and a low grunt noise.. so if you see a -5 to -1 its rusty iron and i never bother and walk away.. positive numbers 2 and up can be gold rings - or gum wrapper Lol. Good luck brother - Joey

Hey HEY hey! I just bought the APEX. I already have the Simplex. What I have noticed so far the APEX is basically a smaller version of the AT Max. Now with that being said. On your video (not banging your review it was really good) did you update your APEX prior to doing it? They released an update that helps in target stabilization.

hey brother! at the time of that video i didnt ..it was still V1.27 .. I still have the Apex and am happy with the performance on my volley ball digs .. in the sand its a WINNER! Im finding nice stuff as long as no other items are near to mask one athother.. in v1.27 i still get ghost iron grunts and ghost beeps at the end of my swings.. I hope the V1.28 fixes those because i really do like the damn machine for all the Anxiety it gives me LoL

@@VegasDtech shoot yeah. I plan on it. I do like how you can use the Headphones from a AT Max (MS-3) and pair it up with your APEX just fine. But yes. It’s a done deal on the Super Fly Coil. It’s already coming.

@@VegasDtech The Ripper coil helps incredibly well for trashy sites. Also, if you hear a good signal once and you think it's being mask, try changing your frequency from multi to 5kHz and sweep again. But definitely get the Ripper 5x8 coil.

For the Beach the 540! thats a great detector for sand.. the Multi should be very helpful! In the Sand the Apex is also very Stable with the " Salt mode"

I live in Florida and wanted a MD for the beach as well as parks, etc! Trust me, as I am very new to this, and went through 5 MDs and returned, until I did my research and found that the “VANQUISH” is the best! I bought the 440. It’s up to you on the 340, 440, or 540, not much difference. But I like the 440 because the built in pin point is amazingly accurate! The 340 is only $200, but is excellent if you don’t care for the pin point option.

Just stumbled onto your channel. Love your videos. I have the Simplex w/sp24, Quest X5, and Quest Q30. I think you would be amazed at the X5 for the price. Better separation than the Garret I would bet. Don't own a Garret though

I was watching this video but question I have is. I never seen you turn on MF on the screen. on the Apex That is Multi Frenquency When that is turned it will pick up all 3 sounds. 😊. Great video on Vanquish and other md. However you misrepresented the apex which should be corrected.

Only reason I went with minelab over nokta is because it performs better on beach and wet sand. Both are well made. Garrett needs to step up!

Too bad..keep it dry and Pray you don’t need to get anything done under Warranty.. Minelab of the old days is Gone, They were bought by a Shady conglomerate called “CODAN”. They sued distributors, failed fulfillment of A multitude of customers warranty services due to bad components (Equinox’s are NOT water proof) plus suddenly, They started doing so many more shady things that it’s crazy!…(Ask Nokta-Makro)

If I hear three sounds on a sweep I will cherry pick them all and half the time I will turn 90 degrees and sweep the targets that are not iron. The Vanquish 540 is my best detector. I will probably buy an expensive analog detector in two years.

You didn't bither showing what frequency your set to on your test for apex? MF or 20, etc, if you are going to lump in an apex you ALWAYS need to tell that setting

I only run my multi freq machines in MF. The video primarily was focused on the target separation issues of the Apex.. The only benefit i get running in single freq is for EMI chatter.. Thanks for the comments and for pointing out that to me...

almost every video i've watched on the apex has been biased and they clearly don't set them up correctly, like this guy didn't run it in zero mode the same as the others and besides that when do you ever dig up a gold ring inbetween 2 chunks of iron, this test is the only time u'll ever need that.

Habe am 17.03.21 gekauft und gestern Spule hat Kontakt verloren zu Bedienungs Teil wegen wackeln Kontakt am kabel und Stecker!!! Dan komt noch schlimmer, habe mich gewendet an Verkäufer Nuaggets 24 welche laut Email habe ein monat urlaub!! Ich als kunde fülle mich betrogen und bin ich ratlos was sollte ich machen! Es ist nicht normal das komt nach ca. 70 Tagen zu Kabel Schaden!

It’s not Minelab, it’s Codan.. Hope nothing breaks.. Even under warranty…Good luck. Hasn’t been the Once Loved “MineLab” for a few years now.. Just Codan, surviving off of the Old research and old tech..Its why they ripped off Nokta Makro, tried to milk Equinox Equinox(700-900😂) and sued their distributors…Also, Equinox 800 leaks underwater and they tell their customers to get lost…)

Apex is Crap...Simplex is better..BUT the Vanquish is a BEAST...Technology is better in vanquish..imo
