I think the big thing people are missing these two have played thousands of hands at the same table so obviously Garrett went with his read I mean called out the man's hand and eventually folded lol so clearly Garrett knows he's super capable of bluffing in this particular spot with the double check raise and bomb river scenario. Which is probably why he did it in the first place Garrett's the best high stakes cash game player in the world in my opinion and this is one of 100's of spots he made the right decision I mean the man had 50,000$ invested in this hand so he was get almost 4-1 to call and he folded which is incredible.

Getting the double (or even triple) check raise in is always a personal rush when you can pull it off, but it doesn't mean much if you let your opponent off the hook on the river. I honestly think that if Jon had gone for a stop n go betline on the turn instead of for a second check-raise, he might have gotten paid off on the river. The first check raise seems like you're chasing a draw. The second one just looks super polarized and you either have close to the nuts or nothing.

A lot of streams I watch, and a lot of cash games I sit in, I see it a pretty frequently. Someone with 67suited, for example, flops a board like 5, 8, 3, or 6, 8, 5, with the flush draw. I'll see players check raise in those spots a lot, especially if they think they are up against an overpair.
@daddyfuse502 жыл бұрын
@@davidleonard7439 Yes. Thats a very common play on the flop. Lets you take it down right there, or juices the pot up for the times you hit your draws.
@davidleonard74392 жыл бұрын
@@daddyfuse50 ummm that is NOT a common play in poker, generally. It MAY be a "common" play in today's poker- which has dramatically changed, even over the course of the past 5 years- let alone the past 20. Althought Garrett makes it look and says that its close to call i dont think so. He said it that he believe hes behind and wanted to get a read to confirm that. If he dont get any read its always fold. If he get a read that opponent is bluffing then it might be call. Some might double check-raise with nut flush draw but not many players. Thats why double check raise is always a strong hand. Either overpair, two pair or set.
@Lado16772 жыл бұрын
He doesn't have to have three 5s there. KQ and AQ have him crushed. Also, all the sets and A3 of spades make sense there. Maybe ( most likely) I'm wrong but here are my two cents
@Sam-db4mr2 жыл бұрын
Players are not usually bold/brave enough to check-raise Garrett. And Jon here did it on consecutive streets!
@maverick19731313132 жыл бұрын
Nice spidey sense. Read the situation nicely...either facing a monster or aggressive semi-bluff draw that missed & 3 barreled or Q with better kicker. Which tells the story better for the player you are playing?
@sarahdeshay13942 жыл бұрын
The decision was not about his kicker or the value of his hand. He could beat a bluff and his opponent would only bet like that with either a bluff or a set. Garret did consider that he may have been on a draw and backed into 2 pair so the decision was is he or is he not bluffing.
