Hey calabash. I emailed you. I have found a partial reason the VDI is screwy. The non ferrous is not really 40 to 99. The center non ferrous bar is missing numbers. It skips. The big problem with that is it makes it really hard to cherry pick silver coins etc.

💯 on the Manticore, I get hits in the upper and lower iron bars all through the spectrum from 0-99. I noticed that about the non-ferrous and wondered why it started at 40. A nickel on my Manti hits between 25-27, how does that work on the Vortex?

That Peace Dollar ought to be blowing your ears off in the 90s. I dug one in 2019 in NY with an AT Pro. Something is amiss.

I think Garrett got too excited and called it complete, too soon. Obviously, it wasn’t put under a thorough test. If Charles Garrett was still with us, I think things would be much different. Just saying. I own a couple of Garrett detectors, that I will not part with, that are considered vintage. (Hey C.B., have you tried a honking silver ring that should come up in the same range, as well?)

Interesting videos on the Vortex, but you're confusing me. Generally, the freq shift of a detector is ONLY used when there is interference from another detector, or whatever that's causing issues. You are switching between 1 and 8, but what is the default setting which the manufacture usually states is the BEST to use to give the BEST in performance? Have you tried the default freq shift?

The reason the IDS are wrong is because your holding the coin in your right hand and not the left .

Send your Vortex in for a repair or replacement, then do more testing You have been having issues with the VX9, get a good one before asking Garrett to make changes

Mine is getting the same 67 VDI on a silver dollar in an area with no emi. I have had no problems with charging or lockups. There is a definite problem, hopefully it can be fixed with firmware.
