Hi! I got my quartzite counter and backsplash 5 years ago. I love it! As you said, it comes in many variations. My quartzite is everglades. It reads blueish, and in my case, with some heavy veining. It pays to pick your slabs with a designer, so you can determine layout. My kitchen is small, but the stone can be seen everywhere in my living space. When I entertain and only have the under cabinet lighting on, it is truly a focal point. It does require more care than granite, but is much less likely to etch. It's not as heat resistant as granite, but if you have to set pan down for a minute, it's fine. It is very hard, but chips easier than granite. All of the above is in my personal experience. I have zero regrets in choosing it. Oh, also, kiss your pup as much as you can!

I got my quartzite 14 years ago and it's as good as new. No chips, I plonk hot dishes on it with no issues, easy to clean. Love it and love that they're are even more choices these days.

I'm renovating my kitchen next year and my plan is for midtone walnut cabinets with white Corian countertops, matte black hardware, black stainless steel workstation sink, matte black faucet, jewel tone tile backsplash (probably turquoise vertical subway), induction stove top, black oven, stainless steel refrigerator and I'm keeping my Bosch stainless steel dishwasher that's only 5 years old. The floor is going to be LVP throughout the first floor with under floor heating. Going to go lighter with the floors which are dark grey now. I'm replacing a cheap (home depot stock cheap) all white kitchen that came with the house. White is cold and high maintenance. I'm done with it. The walnut will warm the space up, and the white counters will balance the darker wood! As to the backsplash, I gotta have color in my life. My renovated bathroom has turquoise hexagon tile on the floor, aqua glass tile waterfall behind the shower head, in the niche, and under the mirror with matte black hardware and warm wood bathroom cabinet with white vitreous China counter. The rest of the bathroom is 4×10 White subway tile with waves. The bathroom is the only place I'm okay with being mostly white. Especially since the old bathroom had poop brown ceilings and gross throw up tan walls. Yuck!

A great video. Quartzite is amazingly beautiful., but it can also be very bold (as can any type of stone). When we were looking, I had to remind myself that there was a difference between a slab that I loved as art and stone I would like for the long-term as my countertop. It is also going to be cut into strips for the counter, so you won’t get the same expanse of color & pattern you see on the slab.

🇦🇺 You always manage to combine a high level aesthetic with hard-nosed good sense. I’m in the early stages of building what will be my last and forever small home. I will be driving the builders nuts with hardware choices that aren’t on “The List”. Nickel or aged brass are going to be my choices for kitchen and main bathroom, and maybe something a bit eccentric for the tiny powder room. Electric switch plates and covers are also going to be upgraded to something that plays nice with the tapware and drawer pulls and handles. It’s so much fun to do these things when one has some intelligent guidance to start with.

Very possible. However, I think trends can be very beneficial to use for inspiration or help to develop a curated style that reflects one’s personality and makes them happy. I never suggest ripping out what we have for the trend of the day.
