@@acidrain812 Yeah, he's an amazing drummer, but he's not an extreme metal drummer. He can play the gig, but not like Hannes for instance and he adapted and changed a lot of parts that were great in the album. Tried quite a few times and failed. I just dont think he is that well known with my fellow metalheads here. Unlikely to get through with the new patreon system. Dead Oceans, Extinguished Light, Omens, Everything is Fire, Withered & Obsolete etc. etc. I even posted links to some good videos before.
@TheTrveMothlord5 жыл бұрын
@@Blackerer I'm tempted to go Patreon to get him through. Jamie is on a whole other level to a lot of these drummers who are great, but what Jamie does is alien.
@jonathanhenderson94225 жыл бұрын
@@TheTrveMothlord I AM going to go to Patreon to recommend Jamie. I also agree he's on a whole other level, but Ulcerate is on a whole other level to most current DM bands in general. One of the few modern DM bands I've heard that sounds like they're on to something genuinely NEW, even when I can hear the Gorguts/Immolation influence. What song should I recommend? I've gone back-and-forth on several. My personal preference is for Everything is Fire, but every time I watch a live vid of Jamie doing a song I'm impressed all over again!
@TheTrveMothlord5 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanhenderson9422 I actually think the material post Everything Is Fire is drum wise when Jamie really found his own. Destroyers being his more atmosoheric heavy work. Not that EIF isnt amazing. He just began to really trascend from then on! Relapse records have a pretty great live clip of him doing Dead Oceans from 2017 I think? Otherwise there are the studio montage clips? My fave song is cold becoming but I know Garret seems to want to watch videos with clearer audio vs raw camera. Agree on all of what you've said though.
@jonathanhenderson94225 жыл бұрын
@@TheTrveMothlord I think a big part of why I love EIF is simply that that was the first Ulcerate I heard that blew my mind. I do agree Jamie has gotten even better since then, but picking a single song to recommend is tough! I'm trying to find one that has a good mix of his insane technique/speed, but also a good amount of his slower, jazzier/fusion-esque playing where he does a lot of creative cymbal work. I'll go give Dead Oceans another listen. I don't want to do the studio montage clips because I think Garrett appreciates hearing live performances, and the studio stuff being montages of different songs is even more discombobulating than hearing a single song!
