Seems most likely that the West has an interest in keeping Russian forces tied down and bleeding in Ukraine, hence the less-than-speedy delivery of weapons. Every day Russia remains in Ukraine, it gets weaker. A quick defeat would only send them home with more of their stuff intact, and presumably they'd go make sure ASAP that other former SSR's don't go the way of Ukraine. @@brahmburgers $100 billion isn't even close. Most estimates put the damage to Ukraine in the trillion dollar zone. Think about it-- indemnities to all the families whose members were killed and maimed, rebuilding the entire industrial and residential infrastructure (whole cities flattened) that was destroyed, removal of the hundreds of thousands of land mines buried throughout the country, reconstruction of all the historic architecture destroyed, relevelling the hundreds of thousands of hectares of agricultural land pockmarked with shell holes, paying the costs of all the money Ukraine has had to borrow for weapons and operation, repaying the costs to all the nations that contributed weapons, supplies, and humanitarian aid, indemnification for all the labor that went to fight the war, indemnification for lost education for young people, environmental damage repair. There's more, and there should be a punitive disciplinary penalty for any nation that so savagely violates international law and inflicts vast general pain and suffering at this scale.

I somewhat agree, but on the other side of the coin, it takes discussion and mobilization to transport tanks and support equipment. Plus, decisions about how involved to get. We sit at our computers tapping away, but some big decisions entail gambling with the lives of thousands of young men. We don't want 'US or EU boots on the ground' ... but how close can we get - before it becomes a direct war between former USSR and western allies?

obama paternal grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was one of 150.000 rebellious Kikuyu “blackamoors” forced into detention camps during Churchill’s postwar premiership, when the British governnment began its brutal campaign to suppress the alleged “Mau Mau” uprising in Kenya, in order to protect the privileges of the white settler population at the expense of the indigenous people. About 11,000 Kenyans were killed and 81,000 detained during the British government’s campaign to protect its imperialist heritage.

Interesting point, I hadn't thought of until reading your post. When Ukraine wins, western forces could go into Russia to dismantle 90% of Russia's nukes. That could be a big step toward ridding the planet of nukes, .... 100%. No exceptions.

I'm sure that you are (a) conservative: of your territory and belongings, before than politically... If you risked a nuclear war on the land where you live, your words would be more prudent. But evidently you have the good habit of exporting undue wars, and even outside of your jurisdiction (UKR is not part of the NATO if you permit, although it has been supported by NATO since 2014, for Stoltenberg's admission!). I guess that, in American schools, peace must be an untouched topic, which adds up to all the firearms displayed on the walls of American family houses, as if they were pieces of art. Did the USA help us during the II World War? YES and I say thank you, because I'm not ungrateful. But I hope that we could consider that we have finished to pay you back for that help. Unless you think that when you do someone a favor, they will have to be bound to you for good: which is not the gentleman way to behave, but the mafia code.
