Garth made country awesome again in the 90’s. He brought it back honestly
@BelindaTN2 жыл бұрын
No. Garth most certainly did not bring country back. He just changed it to a new version. He turned it into country rock. He even admits it. He said he loves rock music and wanted to be a rock performer. But he said he could not pull it off. He was too country to be a rock star. So he embraced country and performs it in the style of rock. His stage productions are even rock style. Nothing wrong with any of this. But it should not be mistaken for classic Country any more than it should be mistaken for rock music. It is a blend of the two genres. And it has totally worked for Garth. Because he is a blend of the two styles if music.
@kenf35392 жыл бұрын
He did. Country before Garth was a boring bunch of rhinestone shirts with overdone slide guitars (there were exceptions). Country after Garth was exciting and fun. According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), he is the best-selling solo albums artist in the United States with 156 million domestic units sold, ahead of Elvis Presley, and is second only to the Beatles in total album sales overall.

Garth has so many songs. Standing Outside The Fire. Shameless. The Dance. Beaches Of Cheyenne. The Change. He and his wife Trisha Yearwood have several songs together. I remember seeing them sing together for the first time while he was married to someone else but it was obvious even then they were having some serious feelings for one another, but they didn't get together until after they were both divorced. But they have some great songs - In Another's Eyes, Like We Never Had A Broken Heart and Wild As The Wind (which I think is a song that is very underrated)

Fun fact about we shall be free…he was scheduled to preform for a sporting event, and he said ok if they allow the video for we shall be free. Yes, 80's and 90's country was quintessential country (along with all the country that came before it). Still some good country today, but it imo this was just a different era and style and when people think of country they would be kind of shocked just how different it is today. Garth was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, artist's of his era. Really good writing, especially if you get into some of his other tracks. This one is just fun.

Ain’t goin down til the sun comes up is another good song he done. My favorites are Shameless, Beaches of Cheyenne, The River, Longneck Bottle, The Dance, Unanswered Prayers, What she’s doin now, The Red Strokes and When You Come Back To Me Again. Thunder Rolls is another favorite of mine but if you listen to it you’ll also have to check out State of Mine version of Thunder Rolls but make sure you listen to the long version featuring No Resolve cause it actually has the awesome extra verse that Garth wrote for the song but the record labels wouldn’t let him put it in due to it was controversial back in the early 90’s but he would add it in during live shows. They also have a version of God’s Country as well, both are pretty badass.

Also, Aaron Tippin is quite the interesting character from that era as well. I don't know if it's an Arkansas or an Oklahoma twang or something else and I'm sure Wikipedia would know, but he's certainly his own voice and I may not always agree with all of his politics but I love so many of his songs. I really like him as a modern country performer from that time. This was a huge hit for him. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5q0o2N7mcp3nbc

Garth has tons of songs with great lyrics. Country has endless sounds with great lyrics. Music is filled with songs with great lyrics. But only this one has: "Oh the picture in the paper showed the scene real well. Papa's rig was buried in the local motel. The desk clerk said he saw it all real clear! HE NEVER HIT THE BRAKES AND HE WAS SHIFTING GEARS! Country doesn't talk about out right murder much, but when it does its to make a point. My man didn't lose control of his rig. My man was on a mission! Right straight "The Terminator" on them. I can only think of Tanya Tucker's "That Georgia Sun is blood red and going down" and Reba's "The Night the lights went out in Georgia" where Country out right talks about murder. Well Johnny Cash's "Cocaine" too. But "Blood red and going down": "...... left them both, soaking up the saw dust on the floor." and "That's one body that'll never be found. You see, little sister doesn't miss when she aims her gun." in "The Night the lights went out in Georgia" I guess because Country doesn't discuss it much it's just seems so heavy.
