I’ve literally watched thousands of car fixin videos on KZbin. Everyone does things differently. Thankfully! Just continue to do things your way and screw the critics. A wise man once told me: “It’s not about the mistakes you make, it’s how well you fix em! Or at least cover them up!”

There’s always someone that will criticize. What I’ve seen so far ,you are a awesome mechanic. You have your ways others have theirs. There are things I would do differently than you. That doesn’t mean your way or mine is wrong. Sometimes it’s what works for you. But remember, every comment, even negative one helps the channel . Keep up the good work . With the cars and the parenting.

Great job with all your episodes. I like how you're laid-back, don't over-explain and how your subtle humor comes through. Lots of great encouragement from others in comments! So for future episodes hold your ground for doing the process that works for you. If you anticipate flack, try "for those of you who are new around here... detailing will come at the very end of restoration, once I know xxx. Not everyone will agree but that's how I roll.") You may need to repeat it periodically. I like to see you doing what you love rather than you stressing to appease a few. 😊 Looking fwd to the next episode!!

Hey Garth, I totally agree with you on the detailing that’s how I do it! I still take pictures of drum brakes to this day, even after 30 years of wrenching. Back in the day we would just leave one side together so we could go and look at it if we didn’t remember how to put it back together, lol great video!

The right applications of the right rust inhibitors should allow cars to sit like the Navy mothball fleets and outdoor museum displays. My favorites are Carnauba spray wax, almost everywhere, and high temperature silicone to protect those brake springs and exhaust. And perhaps either silicone brake fluid or plenty of brake assembly lube, or maybe they'll invent a brake fluid that can sit longer.
@lazydazegarage
@lazydazegarage Жыл бұрын
You need to ask the "experts " if their mechanics detail the customer's car before they work on them. The people that make the comments probably have mechanics, cuz they don't turn wrenches themselves. Keep doing what your doing. You get the job done rights.

At 57, I always thought the rake was to help the spoilers create down force in high speed turns, but Uncle Tony says it was to copy dragsters that were tilted to house big rear drag slicks. Air shocks might be cheaper than heavy duty coils, especially if it needs shocks anyway and not coils.

Easier was to get the blue off of whitewalls is SOS pads (the ones with soap in them) or the blue/green Brillo pads…I ran wide whitewalls on my ‘62 and it would take about 45 seconds per tire.

Mustie1, Junkyard Mook, Shop Kat, ColdWarMotors etc. all collect too many vehicles over time, so I suggest flipping more, ideally to friends who occationally drive them in for visits like coldwar Motors. This prevents storage problems too, and is just more practical, though Dean's Greasy Flips Dean does too little work.

I just wax in the dirt with spray wax, and would leave the tire blue too because I'm for longevity before appearance, and I like blue anyway. I think the dirt can hold more spray wax than a clean surface would hold. Also, If the new brake clips don't work, then doesn't that make the original clips irreplaceable? and isn't it worth a bit of time to try to protect irreplaceable clips?
