I remember Garuda in the bad old days when it had a questionable safety record, poor service and unreliable flight schedule. Glad to know the airline has come far from those dark days and its much improved in safety, service and reliability.

@@rachkate76 I don't think she helped the airline much, reputation-wise. haha. Gaurda's planes were crashing left and right when she was doing the commericals for them. In fact, at one point, Garuda was banned from flying to the EU because of it's poor safety record. Although to be fair, this wasn't a problem unique to Garuda, as the rest of the Indonesian airlines generally had a dreadful safety reputation, airlines like Adam Air had a notorious record of skipping on maintenance and making the regulators look the other way. Then the Indonesian authorities finally decided enough was enough, they needed to do something to improve their airlines. Adam Air was shut down. Garuda was overhaul in management and safety became a priority focus.

24:00 The light brown bits on white rice is "bawang goreng" or fried shallots. Indonesians like to add this condiment to any food, whether it be rice congee, mie goreng, soups, gado gado salad. Surprisingly the Danish add this condiment too: when I was in Copenhagen they serve hotdog with fried shallots and is commonly found in their supermarkets. I thought it was an Indonesian thing.

Hi Jayden. Last Week I flew Garuda Back To Indonesia For holiday, but I stop In Jakarta. I flew a330-300 in older version. About food, I love beef rendang with turmeric Rice. The drink selection also very impressive, a lot of choice and the crew also very friendly. Love your Trip Report with Garuda. 👍👍

Garuda had direct flights from CDG to DPS years ago prior 2020 but they had drastically reduced their European flights after the pandemic and nowadays I guess only Amsterdam is still operating in codeshare with KLM. @@JaydenWong basically EU citizens do not require a visa for Indonesia if we stay less than 30 days. I guess Garuda had cut off most European routes coz they were in a very bad financial situation and it worsened after the pandemic. Hope you enjoy Bali.

What a great outlook on an airline that my ex-wife and I flew back in the the late 90's on our 2nd of 3 visits to Bali. Sadly back then Garuda didn't have a great reputation, but your video showed a complete different view of an airline that I never thought of flying with. As for your vlog at the end it will come in handy when I visit June 2024 after officiating at the Darwin V8's as an official for the 11th time. That day when you fly, I actually saw ur plane from my home and the view out of Sydney is always stunning. I just flew with them last week, but on an older A330-300 which is quite outdated tbh. The seat looks indeed a bit more on narrow side, but I'm actually okay with it. The drink service before the meal service is great, I forgot last week if I got drink before my meal or not. The voml actually looks promising, compared to many airlines I'd seen through your video. Beef rendang is always amazing, especially with turmeric rice, I also ordered the beef and it was so good, but it's a little different with this one. The bun is also different, mine was boring because it's just a plain bread lol, good on you for getting the one with sesame. Fyi, I think this particular plane isn't refurbished, it's a fresh and new airplane delivered to Garuda in 2016. Considering the price, if you want a full-service on your journey Garuda is a good one to pick, Qantas on the other hand can be an option but they only did 1 service in my past flight with them to Denpasar (from Melbourne). Nice trip report Jaydenn, as an Indonesian, I feel happy that you enjoyed the flight with Garuda Indonesia. Happy new yearr and see you next year, can't wait for your next trip report.

7:10 - I have to correct you, that is NOT the 1st Garuda livery from 1949. It's the 2nd, from 1969. The 1st Garuda livery from 1949 can be seen on one of their 737s, PK-GFM. PK-GHC, along with GPZ, GHA, and GHD, are not refurbished; the seats are as they are currently right from the factory (now...why on earth did GA not refurbish their older A330s is beyond me). Me and my significant other flew with Garuda to Aus quite a few yrs ago from Amsterdam to Adelaide and due to flight changes we ended up in Bali at their expense for 5 days which was a nice gesture I also remember on the way back both of us got a little tipsy on the very generous measures of scotch that they served us !

It's been the case of PR mainline flee way below than the CX version. Pre covid-19 if you did CX899 EWR-HKG and then go to MNL on CX907 you will find that the CX899 or CX907 A359/B77W is better than the PR127 A359/B77W

Thanks Oscar! More legroom for sure! I barely use the footrest (and leg rest in premium) Hilton felt newer but further away from the airport and mainland, so it’s a bit more expensive to Grab if you go out everyday. Supposed to have a nice beach but it was under construction. Conrad has nicer pools but rather terrible beach😩 Breakfast very good in both locations!

haha high five! I'm a Hilton guy too. Hilton Bali was the only beach resort in Asia I ever stayed at haha. I tried Fiji too, very nice pools but rooms a bit tired and out. Beach is meh too. Conrad HK for the view. Hilton Odawara (about 1-2 hours from Tokyo) for the onsen and massive property. I'm sure they are some very nice ones in Okinawa island too. Hilton Singapore is the largest Hilton in Asia Pacific, with over 1000 rooms. The lunch buffer is affordable and a must try even if you're not staying there. Doubletree Noumea in New Caledonia (not quite Asia) has overwater bungalows. Very affordable compared to Maldives. But watch out for swimming ban when there are sharks around. What about recommendations from you, would love to hear :)

Awesome! I'll look those up. Well the Conrad and Waldorf Astoria are great properties in Mexico, specifically Tulum and Cancun. The Tulum beach was not the best though. Our first trip to Asia is going to be Bangkok in Fall of this year. Love the Conrad in NYC but of course no beach there! Conrad St. James in London us a great location, great Diamond perks but smallish rooms.

Cheap flights to Sydney from SFO for Madi Gras in March 2024. Grabbing two now, less than $1000.00. Just flew Swiss Air SFO to ZRH in first class. JUST AMAZING!!!! FYI ….6’4” can easily stretch out on the beds with a glass of Salon champagne and then go behind the curtain to visit you in 56A. 😂😂😂❤
