Gary Cooper was a man who knew how to succeed in movies. He played roles that appealed to all kinds of audiences and never lost the charm that made him so popular. Even though his life was full of scandal, the actor started out as a farmer named Frank Cooper. When his parents moved to Los Angeles, everything changed for the young farmer. He wanted to become an actor, so he changed his name. His agent told him not to use the name Frank and suggested he use the name Gary instead, since no one else had that name at the time. Cooper's life changed once he became famous, but at first, it was pretty quiet. Like most actors, this was because it was the time of silent films. So maybe it wasn't a surprise that he was an extra in a number of movies while he was waiting for his big break. It happened in 1926, but not the way he had planned. He got one of the male leads in The Winning of Barbara Worth when the actor who was supposed to play the part didn't show up.
