I have played guitar since i was 15 years old (about 45 years ) and i am yet to see a guitarist to match Gary Moore he has been my hero for years simply because he makes it look so easy, i was gutted when he died because i had no one to show me guitar playing at its best any more, Gary was the master of getting the best sound from marshall amps and wow did he put them amps through their paces, thats probably why Jim marshall invited him to their factory in Milton Keynes so often. Both Jim Marshall and Gary Moore was great guys and great ambassadors to the world of music, I have a feeling they wont be resting in peace as everyone expects they will be rocking in heaven better than anyone. Keep rocking Gary and Jim wherever you are you are definately missed on this planet.

I remember learning this song by playing along to my dad's vinyl and thinking 'hey this ain't so bad'. Then I got to the very Celtic D chord riff near the end and thinking bloody hell this is tricky. Then looking at the liner notes and realising: 'bloody Gary Moore!'. As you say, he made it all look so easy.

The other problem is that they all keep leaving us and there isn't anyone around to replace the void and I'm afraid that the time isn't far when they will all just be memories via our speakers and television screens. Very sad.
@mister.costello8 ай бұрын
In many ways moore is an unbeatable player, but he isn't my favourite. I have heard anyone cover this apart from later thin Lizzy and they don't even attempt to do the final lead parts. It is very Celtic based mixed with a bit of blues. Who else can get near to it? He is extremely fast without any tricks whereas EVH and the likes of satriani use a lot of tricks. Clapton and Hendrix never played as fast as that, although Hendrix is more flamboyant and Clapton concentrates on the emotion of each note more. Moore is link the link between the two camps.
@Mcqlfc16 күн бұрын
Me too mate. Sure there are great guitarists out there but no one played like him. It's an empty void for me and you.

Truly the greatest rockband ever... Impossible to believe they didn't have the recognition they deserved. I would like to see the present-day prancing, preening mediocrities with their 3 chords and crap guitar solos follow something as giant as this. Lizzy were everything a band should be and we will probably never see their like again. All I can say is that I am so happy I was born long enough ago to see them at Hammersmith with Philo doing this song. The ultimate...

Gotta say I never realised how much Lizzy were loved in Ireland until I went to Dublin last year what an amazing experience. Everywhere we went there were pictures and photos of Phil and Rory Gallager the pubs even had a whiskey named Thin Lizzy in the one bar I've loved Lizzy since I was 15 and this visit will remain with me forever. I was lucky enough to see Gary twice once in Donington MOR 84 and the next in Cardiff in 87 on the Run for Cover tour amazing. This song is my absolute fave of Lizzy and they did it justice R.I.P Phil and Gary.
