As a musician of over 60 years I've heard many of the greats live including Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Jeff Beck and many more and IMHO Gary Moore is the greatest guitar player that ever lived and this is the greatest guitar performance ever recorded.

To have that control at that volume is incredible. Every extraneous noise is going to be heard. It takes a mastery I can’t even conceive of having played guitar for 30 years. He was one of the first guitarists I got into when I started playing (I’m Irish) and I’m still blown away by him.

yeah - Gary really was something else. I had he privilege of seeing him live a few times. Like Mark Knopfler (and a few others) he was actually left handed. Born not so very far away from where Van Morrison grew he really was magnificent.

Wow for sure!! First heard it on transistor radio and earphone late one night in the early 70s by Roy Buchanan. Was stunned then. Saw Roy numerous times at Toronto's famed Massey Hall and his technical prowess and clarity of tone always dropped jaws. Gary is the next generation, perhaps, a supremely proficient, emotive, and mind melting blues++ guitar god. I always am floored by Gary's cries from the mountain top. Thanks for this, and definitely, please check out Roy's with us. 🙏🏽 ⛰️🎸🔊

Empty Rooms - Stockholm 87 Shapes of Things - We Want Moore or Live in Ireland or both wtf not 😂 He has some sick hard rock/metal stuff from the 80s End Of The World Victims Of The Future Cold Hearted He had a couple of albums in the 90s that arent my taste, but other than that, if its Gary, its got some S-tier guitar work at the VERY least

Here's Roy Buchanan doing the original. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpbIc4SQbaaeosUsi=4syPrvHF0DUo8iht Gary takes it to a new place. He's the master of sustain. Roy is much less of a showman, but so great in his own right, but no one ever made the Les Paul sound better than Gary Moore.

this version is great, but I personally have a preference for Buchanan's version. In this video Moore is playing Greenie , the LesPaul made famous by Peter Green, the previoua owner, and probably the most celebrated LesPaul in existence

The Les Paul Gary is playing is legendary. A quirky, mechanically backwards instrument known as Greeny. It needed people like Peter Green x then Gary Moore to show its power. Owned by Kirk Hammet of Metallica for 1.8. Million.

People ask me about “guitar face”. I don’t do it much but people ask. So I say, you know when you’re threading a needle? And you have your tongue sticking out the side of your mouth and your brow is furrowed? Now imagine threading ten needles at once. That’s “guitar face”. The effort of managing so many micro movements in rapid succession and you make all sorts of faces with the effort. That’s why it happens during solos. Some people probably do it to put on a show but most people don’t even know they’re doing it.
