IMHO, as a musician of 57 years, having seen many of the greats live (Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, BB King and many more) I think Gary Moore was the greatest guitar player that ever lived and this was the greatest guitar performance ever recorded.

I couldn't agree more. Like yourself, I've seen most of the 'great guitarists' over the years but Gary was quite simply a cut above the rest. Greatest guitarist that ever walked this earth! Cheers. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦

I have never seen and never witnessed a guitar performance of this level, never. There are several things that awe me: how clean is his tone, the incredible vibrato, his speed and precision and, above all, the superb soul of his playing. I wish I had seen this monster live. The GOAT with no doubt.

So glad this was caught on film -- Gary Moore is a master at his craft like no other. The singing tone, the harmonics, the technique in both right and left hands -- this is a master class. Most of all, his prayerful ending that sounds like an "AMEN." Simply brilliant.

I'm 52 years old and i've been following Gary Moore since mid 80's. Every time this guy played a guitar solo it was a masterpiece, it was a song inside the main song, the feeling, the melody, the sustain, the silences....everything on its just proportion. He was unique.

Rollen...I am almost 73 years old and have been a music nerd since the 60's and I have to be honest with you...I only found Gary about a year ago! Where the hell was I at and what was I doing?? I was raising a family, owned my own business, traveled almost around the whole world and missed out on this genius man's guitar gift from God. I am sooo sad I missed out on this man while he was alive. I will be buying his cd's and playing them at the man cave until I overdose on his music! Rock on dude. Frank, the old guy from NC.

I had the privilege to see GM back in the 1980's, and he just got better with age. Yes, there are a million kids who can play a million notes a second, but, I have never seen anyone play with such emotion and transfer that through a guitar to my heart. RIP my guitar hero.

R.I.P. Gary… my guitar hero! Just some fyi for those that may not know the guitar he is playing was called “greeny” because he got it from Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac / The Blues Breakers. Gary eventually sold it to a dealer who sold it to Kirk Hammett of Metallica who still plays it to this day.

@@flickdasher1775 nah It’s Greeny. The top knobs are 50’s and the bottom are 60’s knobs .Gary’s other 59 he got from Phil Harris named Stripe had all 4 original knobs. The tailpiece’s top half is worn black. The wear between the pickups and underneath the bridge pickup. I mean there is not a good enough shot to see the cracked headstock that was repaired lol. He used greeny for the studio recording so makes sense he would use it live. There’s also articles about this performance “One of the most brilliant performances in the history of the electric guitar is definitely this one by Gary Moore at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990 when he performed in a masterful way, the instrumental composition ‘The Messiah Will Come Again’ by the late guitarist Roy Buchanan, pioneer of the Telecaster sound. Gary performed the cover on his legendary 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard which he himself named “Greeny”, in honor of its first owner, as well as his great idol, Peter Green”

In my opinion this is the best live performance ever in terms of playing solo guitar. I know it's a cover song but this is something special. And one thing i'm amazed Gary always lands on the right note even after he's doing these monster bends or even the most subtle ones and never went out of tune noticeably. Wonderful songwriter...RIP Gary Moore. Hello from Finland!

Hello Rollen Green, it's my first time seeing your reaction to Mr. Gary Moore. I love your honest gut felt reaction to Gary Moore's rendition of The Messiah will come again. At 7:57 you nailed it! The first time I heard him play this song, I cried. I was taken by the emotion in his playing ability. Thank you for sharing with the world we live in, for 14 minutes something good. Other than the crap that is out there. Something incredible, that's what music can do! Thank you, Rudiah, Reedsport, Or.

Ive been a huge fan for over 40 years . I own all his albums . That man never wrote a bad song . Everything he did was world class . World Class. First Rate . Makes me sad that people are not familiar with his music . To me , that is the biggest tragedy . Another great is John McGlaughlin , Alan Holdsworth , Steve Hackett , and Robert Fripp.

What a lot of you won't know, a lot of that was improvised, he was a master of his craft. I recall a gig at the Edinburgh Playhouse he broke a string mid solo, you could clearly see the string hanging from the headstock, he just played around it and changed guitar at the end of the track - Remarkable. Another trick of fate my son has the same birthday as Gary, 4th of April.

First off, my frickin goodness 🤯 phenomenal!!! That is what I'm talking about right there😁👍. Second, not a big deal, but this one and your next( or what is supposed to be) is reversed. So your answer to this came first😏. Hope that made sense. I thought the algorithm was messing with me, with delayed Post. I check, nothing there. Refresh, nothing there. Back out come back, nothing there. Go to home page, and there you are 10 min ago. Click on it, and you have 3 videos going back an hour plus. 🤦🏻‍♂️. But now that your order of putting them out is changing, that's weird to say the least😌

It's all subjective and I don't think anybody, including Gary Moore, has ever come close to this otherworldly level of musical perfection, and maybe nobody ever will. 🤔...... Thanks for your Bonamassa recommendation, 👍and with all due respect, this particular performance of the great Joe B. and Beth Hart singing her guts out isn't even remotely close IMHO to what is arguably the greatest (recorded) live musical performance ever.
