They need 6-7-8 top class players to even challenge for top 3 or 4. 1 or 2 players can't make the difference they need. 8th flattered them last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished in the bottom half. Mid table teams are going to OT, playing to win, expecting to win and more often than not actually winning. Ten Hag hasn't a clue. @@cycglplg One of the biggest differences IMO to the way Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd scout a player, is Liverpool place just as much emphasis (if not more) into the character of the player as they do on their ability. How many Liverpool players have ended up in the news for throwing tantrums or going out partying all night etc, compared to the likes of some of the other clubs? It's probably why (again IMO) why we identify a player and don't take a second option if the 1st choice isn't landed. Utd had the Rashford partying fiasco (though he's from the academy) Sancho discipline issues, Pogba falling out with Mourinho publicly etc. Sterling at Chelsea publicly questioning his situation, Lukaku being sold and being bought back despite not being a good fit etc. There's little point buying a player if they have a history of causing discontent in the dressing room.

When he arrived at United, he sanctioned the purchase of Casemiro & Eriksen, barely played Fred, sanctioned the sale of Fred (who can actually cover distance in midfield) sanctioned the purchase of Mount & Amrabat, and now Ugarte. The 7 goal thriller was the icing on the cake United got taught a very big lesson that day! & now when we play them I don’t even have to keep tabs on the score until the end of the game........Arne has inherited a very special thing in the Premiership (a team that knows how to play & is a well oiled machine-granted- when everyone is match fit & not injured & when you have a team like Liverpool & the world class players they have then it’s off to the races! Liverpools midfield was never an issue.. rather klopps style of play didnt suit progression or stability especially in the middle of the field, under slot it’s completely different. I fully expect lfc to dominate midfield 99% of the time and to be the best defence in the league. It’s no disrespect to klopp he’s a legend but slot suits better.
