A defensive midfielder is WAY more of a priority than a striker. There's enough goals in Cavani, Greenwood and Martial in that role. We haven't had a competent defensive midfielder (save for the first six months of Matic) since Michael Carrick in 2013. Every other top team has someone they can trust to hold their midfield together and bring balance and it's absolutely essential that we sign one to get back to the top again.

Carragher did not fully understand Adam's point toward the end. About media perception of Pogba vs Kane. Kane does get a bit of a free pass but the ultimate answer is the club itself. The size and infamy. Utd always dominate the headlines no matter what. For better or worse. What adam is failing to think about is would their departures have been so calm and "respectful" if at the end of that year they were told "actually you are not going anywhere". I have no doubts the media portray Kane differently however Neville unlike adam is looking at the actually difference in the circumstances. While still saying Kane is wrong to not turn up for training. Adam was inversely using bias to ignore the nuance.

If Cavani/Greenwood/martial/Rashford are missing sitters after sitters as CF, then may be there is an argument that Kane would improve us, but we hardly create chances for our CFs with our style of play. I agree and I think some people have missed nevilles other point. With Kane, you never hear anything from him and his professionalism is unquestionable, yeah he’s not handled this situation well and his agent didn’t handle that contract well either, but for him to have done this, something has gone very badly wrong for him at spurs, but using Pogba as an example is crap.
