The intensity is called Passion. I don't think there is anyone Oldman cannot play. His acting stops you in your tracks! One day at a time! Please, direct produce more movies people need to see this as uncomfortable as it is.

I still can't get over the fact that Gary Oldman played the piano in Immortal Beloved! That stuff is incredibly hard to play! He is simply wonderful!
@intello89533 жыл бұрын
Later on the video he did say he learned to play the piano to a very high level when he was very young.
@Whipslinger17 ай бұрын
I was AMAZED that he actually played Bethoven's works in the movie at concert level. That is until I learned that he actually was classically trained from a very young age. It makes sense because he has those deliciously long, slender fingers. I call them piano fingers.

I detect a deep sadness and regret when Gary speaks of his father....or the absence of the same. I believe his life and emotional acting style is a direct result of that void in his life. Is South London 'the Hood' by the way?? He seemed to have grown up in a middle class exitence, though, as opposed to a lower class one. Piano lessons and college are expensive so his mum did well as a single parent.

Talented, passionate, emotionally intelligent, cognitively intelligent, driven. I remember watching dracula decades ago to see Keanu. I remember thinking, looking at the young gothic/steampunk dracula, "this dracula is sexy". Had no clue it was this wonderful actor until recently. Saw him again much later as Sirius Black. Suffice to say the actor, still nameless to me at that time, in that character still sparks many a... fantasy 😉. Just when I thought maybe I'm just into him doing a gothic/steampunk look, I saw him in a Tarantino role that was rather titillating. If they casted him as a growing blade of grass, he'll make it worth the watch.

The scene where Winstone's character pulverises Burke's character, nothing is explicitly shown. You think you have seen a viciously violent scene. All to the imagination. Clever directing by Oldman.

sometimes aspiring actors drop off their accents to order to become an actor (in drama schools). it's a rare thing - especially in those days, when gary started - to save your original accent.

I was kind of surprised at Sir Tony's wrather lais sez faire attitude toward another thespians alcohol addiction. I guess not everyone has a desire to help a friend get sober. Interesting. I thought he'd have been more compassionate. Or maybe Sir Tony was more like a Richard Burtonesque figure and was like the man's man. You know, let a man have his vices as long as it doesn't corrupt his art kind of thing. 🤷🏽♀️
@allthewine11 жыл бұрын
I don't think his background is fabricated but it bothers me when someone changes they're accent. Not just actors. My Scottish born cousins now speak with full blown English accents. Its all put on.
@douglasmilton28054 жыл бұрын
He was born in New Cross, south London, his dad was a welder. Went to the local comp. Eventually got a place at a drama school after being turned down by Rada. Of course after years of living in the US his accent has mellowed a bit ( although thank God it's still recognizably English and not mid-Atlantic. But his vowels are still pure Sarf Landan. If it matters.
