In this video I have Gary's Willys F 134 engine in the test stand and ready to be started. I started by pressure lubricating the engine with 30 weight break in oil. After sending 5 quarts of oil thru the engine under pressure it was time to start it and break it in properly. This engine has a new distributor with Pertronix installed and a new Pertronix Coil. I am also using a new starter motor on this engine that will give years of trouble free service. 12 volts from the battery to the positive side of the coil and this engine immediately comes to life. Lots going on when and engine first fires up, so a quick check for oil pressure and then I get right on timing it to 5 degrees before top dead center. With 40 pounds of oil pressure I begin the engine break in process. For the next 30 minutes the engine is brought to 2200 rpm then down to 800 rpm. Varying the engine speed like this will properly break in the cam and the entire engine. Right after 35 minutes of run time I change the oil and filter. Shell Rotella T4 15W-40 oil is what I use on all my engine rebuilds. A new Wix filter and fresh oil and then another 15 minutes of run time, again at varying speeds.
Perfect oil pressure and the temperature held perfect at 170 degrees.
I know there was a lot of fan noise in this video but I wanted to be careful to keep this engine cool during its first few hours of run time
