I’m so glad that Gary is finally being taken to task for his BS by multiple big KZbinrs. I have railed against this guy for years and as a former employee I can’t tell you how toxic and dysfunctional his company is. The culture is an oil/water mix of burnt out, cynical people who see this charlatan for what he is… and mindless sheep cult followers who hang on every word he says.

Well there is some idea behind it. Imagine you are having a bad time and stressing yourself out over something (say you lost some money). Then imagine someone in your family dying. Would you still worry about money? What the exercise does is it brings your attention to your actual priority i.e. family. And then you also see them all good and alive, which is the best feeling ever.

i was on a week Gary Vee high one time and here are some points: - he brought his father's wine business online and grew it exponentially (impressive yes but it was already big to begin with) - he pride himself in being an early adapter marketer and keep referencing that he made a google ad campaign the first day it was available - he works mainly in marketing? and says that he works with big names but I don't really know whats notable in his portfolio - as pewds said, I stopped watching when I realized he can talk so much with saying so little. he has some good advice don't get me wrong but he talks like every end of a phrase should be a mic drop when he didn't really say anything special

that's usually every motivational speaker. nothing they ever say is new or interesting. HOWEVER, I think of them as hearing the right thing at the right time. everyone at different times of their life with be going through something different. sometimes hearing something from a stranger said in a particular way is what you needed. I hear the same shit they say from my friends and family. nothing special. and in my experience if everyone I know is telling me teh same thing, sometimes it takes that one special friend for it to really hit or stick. I think it's the same with motivational speakers. they aren't original and never will be, and they will be contradictory (I don't mind that. people in general are. you tend to know what you need in a specific situation so advice always changes) but they can be good to hear when you need them the most

I wouldn’t rely too much on luck.. but I’ll horn my skills, look for the right opportunities, wait for the right timing, then get what I deserved because everything was lined up in the right way, success was bound to happen. Luck I feel has little to do with it. Consistency is everything.. especially coming from someone like PewDiePie, who is not a businessman or entrepreneur. Of course he’s gunna think it was luck, when in fact it was staying disciplined, consistently uploading over the years, constantly tweaking your content to make it better, and through you building this “Formula”, he found success. It wasn’t luck, it was a formula mixed with discipline and consistency. There’s almost no such thing as luck. Luck is when u aligned yourself with the universe and got what you deserved. Not really luck at all when you really look at it.

Gary Vee is...perplexing, to say the least. Some of the things he says are true and good ideas, and some of them are just too, ironically, idealistic. Nonstop hard work for a decade isn't the magic ticket to success, people work insanely hard their entire lives and just make enough to live comfortably. You have to be smart about where you allot your time, effort, and money, and, in all honesty, you have to just get lucky to some extent to make it that far. Funny thing is, Gary Vee would probably tell you the same thing in response to his own point.

@@JRskatrPvP You know, I was watching Gary for a while and I was understanding everything he said, but some things were not suiting me. I think it's more of a trend to troll the guy, rather than taking him seriously. I was obsessed with social media. I was constantly on Instagram scrolling through many profiles, liking sh*t and all that and was watching a lot of his videos and people don't understand what he really means. He said that, if you want to be happy and start building up your career or whatever, you should stop watching him and all those influencers. Trying to find someone all the time to reassure you with a way of income is what really keeps you away from growing it. He said the guy that he'll be always far from having passive income, if he keeps on buying courses for that crap. I think he makes money from people who are too weak to understand that starting something is by really starting it and not by listening to people like him. Some people just don't get his point.

The whole silence thing is a real conversation and negotiation tool. The idea is that when you ask a question or supply an answer to one, you’re not filling the dead air with something that gives the other party time to think, they need to get back to you immediately with a reply. The more time you give the person your talking to, the more time said person has to think of ways to step around you or think ahead of you.

The: „Just work for ten years, don't buy anything or have fun, and you'll become rich.“ is toxic and wrong on so many levels. 1.) It's a lovely recipe for emotional, psychological and physical burn-out, would love to see a person in that state, unable to function in any way whatsoever, get rich. 2.) Like Felix stated, just working hard doesn't guarantee you you will become rich. 3.) If you save up and don't have fun for ten years, do you think that once (if) you get rich, you suddenly won't have this mindset of: "I need to save up and I can't have fun"? You guessed it. 4.) Is it really worth it to suffer for ten years just to become rich and then (maybe) enjoy life? How long do you think just the money itself will keep you content/happy? 5.) What if you can't find a job or your job isn't making you too much money all these years, then what? His solution isn't a formula, it's just a terrible advice that's said so quickly that you barely have any time to question/analyse it, and so confidently (arrogantly, in my opinion) that it "just must be true". Man, just listening to this guy is so draining, and I feel sorry for his followers - getting brain-washed by his toxic advice and conspiracy theories...
@AndresGomez-ct7qb
@AndresGomez-ct7qb 2 жыл бұрын
Beyond toxic, it's also not true. Gary V loves to spin the narrative of "I got a job at a liquor store and worked 7 days a week for 10 years.", but what actually happened is that his dad handed over his wine business to him. When he was - might I add - 23 years of age and fresh out of college. He renamed it, turned it into a more luxury brand, branched out into online sells and started a online-centric marketing firm. That paints quite the different picture, doesn't it?

Him saying work for 10 years, isn't work your job for 10 years, it's work and grind on different avenues for a decade. So the whole what if you can't find a job(bullshit excuse), or you don't get paid enough is bullshit. Basically this specific advice is buckledown for a while and you'll likely see a difference.

I actually agree with that perspective. Work, earn some money, make sacrifices now for the future, especially if you have specific goals in mind. Wasting your money on things you don't actually need, isn't gonna help you get there. Learning sacrifice and a little bit of self-deprivation is a good thing. It's literally the whole idea behind saving money. You sacrifice things in the present that you may want (for enjoyment, not out of necessity) for something you do actually need. So, nah. I don't agree with Felix on this at all.
