The: „Just work for ten years, don't buy anything or have fun, and you'll become rich.“ is toxic and wrong on so many levels. 1.) It's a lovely recipe for emotional, psychological and physical burn-out, would love to see a person in that state, unable to function in any way whatsoever, get rich. 2.) Like Felix stated, just working hard doesn't guarantee you you will become rich. 3.) If you save up and don't have fun for ten years, do you think that once (if) you get rich, you suddenly won't have this mindset of: "I need to save up and I can't have fun"? You guessed it. 4.) Is it really worth it to suffer for ten years just to become rich and then (maybe) enjoy life? How long do you think just the money itself will keep you content/happy? 5.) What if you can't find a job or your job isn't making you too much money all these years, then what? His solution isn't a formula, it's just a terrible advice that's said so quickly that you barely have any time to question/analyse it, and so confidently (arrogantly, in my opinion) that it "just must be true". Man, just listening to this guy is so draining, and I feel sorry for his followers - getting brain-washed by his toxic advice and conspiracy theories...
@AndresGomez-ct7qb3 жыл бұрын
Beyond toxic, it's also not true. Gary V loves to spin the narrative of "I got a job at a liquor store and worked 7 days a week for 10 years.", but what actually happened is that his dad handed over his wine business to him. When he was - might I add - 23 years of age and fresh out of college. He renamed it, turned it into a more luxury brand, branched out into online sells and started a online-centric marketing firm. That paints quite the different picture, doesn't it?
@jessboonekamp55293 жыл бұрын
Him saying work for 10 years, isn't work your job for 10 years, it's work and grind on different avenues for a decade. So the whole what if you can't find a job(bullshit excuse), or you don't get paid enough is bullshit. Basically this specific advice is buckledown for a while and you'll likely see a difference.
@Belomoh63 жыл бұрын
You are not completly wrong it is true But i think he don't talk about jobs and this type of hardwork i don't really follow him blindly but i just listened to him to see his opinions and his mindset but i can't judge i am a little bit confused if he is just an idi*t who is speaking or a rich guy who i should listen to him and to his life lessons
@brien15132 жыл бұрын
I actually agree with that perspective. Work, earn some money, make sacrifices now for the future, especially if you have specific goals in mind. Wasting your money on things you don't actually need, isn't gonna help you get there. Learning sacrifice and a little bit of self-deprivation is a good thing. It's literally the whole idea behind saving money. You sacrifice things in the present that you may want (for enjoyment, not out of necessity) for something you do actually need. So, nah. I don't agree with Felix on this at all.
@enscebose84662 жыл бұрын

Ik honestly. In business school, I had a professor who had 5 businesses. 2 were very successful and 3 failed. 1 of the 3 that failed was an amazing idea, was wildly successful at first, and a service that a lot of people wanted. It failed bc of reasons that were completely out of their control. If you grind every second of the day and do everything 100% perfectly, for most people it’s still a 50/50 chance on whether your business will be a success. Honestly, one of the main keys in being a successful entrepreneur is having good judgement regarding risk assessment. You need to know which risks will be the right ones to take. And if you fail, get back up. But the key to getting rich is being in the right place at the right time(and having connections doesn’t hurt).

Gary Vee is...perplexing, to say the least. Some of the things he says are true and good ideas, and some of them are just too, ironically, idealistic. Nonstop hard work for a decade isn't the magic ticket to success, people work insanely hard their entire lives and just make enough to live comfortably. You have to be smart about where you allot your time, effort, and money, and, in all honesty, you have to just get lucky to some extent to make it that far. Funny thing is, Gary Vee would probably tell you the same thing in response to his own point.
@reecebrauer72893 жыл бұрын
He absolutely would. He would not tell you to work hard if it made you miserable, it's all about what makes you happy.
@jamhamtime18783 жыл бұрын
I was so confused with that... Was that not the point? That being a millionaire isn't really the "success" here? Or am I reaching too much? Like pewds and ken literally said it themselves....
