The tip on this code is for chevy and Gmc models 2007 and up that are equipped with there own Transmission Control Module or TCM, this will not work on vehicles equipped with a Pcm,

I emailed Gary and he promptly responded with the correct TCM wire color for my 2012 Chevy Colorado 1LT 4x4 Crew Cab. I ran ground wires with crimped connectors to the closest factory ground and crimped replacement wire to the correct colored wire that was provided by Gary for this grounding problem from the input speed shaft sensor. Buttoned everything up. Took my truck on a 30 mile test drive. The P0717 code is gone. Chevy dealer wanted $199. just to diagnose. Cost of wire, connectors, and the butt connectors was less than $15. Took an hour to get it done. THANKS GARY !!!

@@GaryFerraro Hello, Gary. I have rebuilt my 2007 Ford edge transmission after a torque converter failure. I replaced the valve body and solenoid body as well. After installation, I'm getting p0715 and p0917, I tried replacing the TSS sensor, which was already done before the rebuild. Still have the codes and harsh shifting engagements and it goes into limp mode. I guess I need to do a pinpoint test on the harnesses leaving the TCM to the PCM. If you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays. Jon

@@GaryFerraro Grounding the wire, I am familiar and understood your video the best way is to gut back the shielding (Light blue ?) and add a wire to chassis ground. I'm not quite sure where to do this though. (Granite, I haven't crawled underneath yet. It's been snowing here). How is this related to the sensor and small lead that you show, inside the housing? Your video you show where to lay or lace this lead in the aluminum case. I had also read that this could result from a bad alternator ?

I bought a used one from a wrecker I deal with from a 2013 awd van. Had it installed and have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd. Engine light came on and I scanned it. Came up with the P0717 code Input turbine speed sensor. Is that a bad ground from the TCM or is it the speed sensor? If it is then I have to remove the transmission again. I could appreciate your input on this situation. Thank you

I have this code and I have a 2010 Silverado 1500 4.3l v6 with this transmission but i believe it may be only a two wire input sensor. I believe i found the wire needed to be grounded so i just tapped off of this wire to a new ground but the hard shifting remained with the code. should i cut it completely? should i clear the code with a scanner? any help is greatly appreciated as I have been battling with this for a while now... :/

So I have an 09 yukon RWD 4.8. 170k on it. I just bought it a couple weeks ago and on my way home today CEL came on and I scanned it and got p0700 and p0717. Definitely shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. the couple that had it before me hadn't reset it in a long time but the average fuel economy was 13.8 which is a the low side even for an around town commuter car. I don't mind throwing some parts at it looks like a TCM (TCU on parts catalog) goes for bout $120 Seem pretty easy to swap out should I start there? I was going to take it in for some fluid changes including transmission and rear end. Fluid doesnt look bad at all. you have to drop the transmission to change the input speed sensor... yikes. hopefully not that. a few other videos I watched also said the alternator could be a possible culprit?

check fluid level, if you can clear the code and see what comes back. May have a few problems, the P0717 code could be a bad input speed sensor located on the TCM which is bolted to the valvebody, if bad you would need to replace the valvebody/TCM. The vibration could be a Torque converter chatter does it feel like your driving over railroad tracks or maybe like a washboard effect?
