My Mom died a few years back, never connected with her well. She also did photography as a hobby. I never thought much of it then but now I'm doing it professionally and wish I had connected earlier. Time got away... Sorry for your loss.

My father died 21 years ago, just before Xmas. Grief never gets any smaller, but other things in your life expand over time. Some things will always take you right back to the pain, but the number of occasions when you reflect on your father without so much heartache will increase. Be strong and take time to care for yourself - best of luck Gary and may your 2024 images be even better.

Hi Gary, So sorry to hear of your loss, but happy to hear your dad was your greatest fan. I lost my dad in March 2023, 47:00 and he was just three days short of his 93rd birthday. My mother died six days before Christmas in 1994, unexpectedly, and it’s never an easy time, not that there is ever a good time to lose a loved one. Ayrmer Cove in Devon is pronounced ‘Armour’. That’s how my aunt, uncle and cousins, who lived in Devon pronounced it. I spent many summer holidays in the South Hams district of Devon and have been to Ayrmer Cove countless times in all sorts of conditions, but have never photographed it. I need to put that right. I remember seeing the Royal Yacht Britannia sailing past Ayrmer Cove with the Queen on board in the year of her silver jubilee in 1977. She had boarded in Plymouth and was in her way to Portsmouth. I think my favourites were looking up at Cat Bells and that frozen lake with the three rocks in the foreground, I can’t remember where in Scotland. Good for you for not giving away that waterfall location. Seeing what happed to the famous sycamore tree at Sycamore Gap shows us what people are capable of. All the very best for 2024.

Condolences for your loss Gary been there almost 20yrs ago now and have to say it gets easier but you never forget, i am sure your father would be very proud of all you have achieved. Changing tact, i am appalled that anyone who follows your channel would have the nerve to complain about you holding back and not disclosing a particular location, you are so open in general not only about the location you are taking images at but also how you go about it in regards to settings and composition and the educational value you give freely, i have learned so much from your channel that i will be for ever grateful, and in a small way i have booked a workshop with you to Skye in March which i am very much looking forward to to show support and my thanks to you. Keep up the excellent work and see you on Skye.

Watching your photo of the reflection in the lake of the mountain in the Isle of Sky (46:59) reminded me of a time a group of us from our local youth club went camping at the foot of Cadair Idris. One day we all climbed up the mountain as far as Llyn Cau, and when we got up to the lake the water was like glass and the reflection of the mountain made it look like we were looking down thousand's of feet, it gave me a real weird sensation.

Hi Gary, Sorry to hear about your father. I totally agree with not giving the location. I have an amazing fly fishing spot. One night I was lying in bed going through my latest fly fishing magazine and there was a photo of the spot. It had to have been taken from right beside my fire pit. I have the exact same shot. Not only was there a photo, there was detailed directions to the spot. Most of the time I went I was the only one, or maybe one other person. After the article, the next time I went there were thirty cars, after that the farmer put a huge chain across the road, so I totally agree with not giving locations away. Regards, Lord Jack Thair

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Loved your 2023 review and the recap of why you liked the top ten. I enjoyed all your shoots. I recognised the images of Arymer Cove which were actually Westcombe Beach in South Devon. If you parked in the Arymer Cove little car park the first cove you come to is that. Further round to the right as you face the sea is Westcombe. I think one of your pics were of Arymer. Two fantastic locations specially this time of year for a sunset. Looking forward to more of your adventures this year. Best wishes, Chris

First of all Gary i would like to say sorry to hear about your father passing away and send my condolences to you and your family. Another great video. I remember every one of them. When you said about some of the nasty comments that you got about the secret waterfall in Glencoe I was disgusted and would say to them find it yourself and don't make stupid comments. It is your prerogative to keep certain locations a secret and i would do the same. I have photographed Elgol for a sunset. A bit dodgy getting over all the large stones as you would know, but a great place to photograph. I thought image's were absolutely amazing and you should be very proud of them. Wishing you a Happy New Year and a very successful 2024 and look forward to seeing your video's.
