Wonderful images, Gary! You now need to acquire a lime green jacket to match the van! The orange clashes a little!😂 But seriously, that was one great image of those groins. Worth all the effort.

Gary so enjoyed this as it explained why my couple of hours at Turnberry Lighthouse trying fine art was absolutely PANTS lol Sky was clear no clouds but I’m on it now so thank you. Hope workshop going well and that you are feeling better :)

Absolutely love the new van Gary. I have a very similar metallic coloured Transporter and, from all the very nice cars I have in my history, it’s by far the one which brings me the most compliments. People continually approach me, especially when I’m filling up, they just have to comment, and I see people look and point all the time. Vans are the in thing in a big way 😂😂

Hi Gary. It was nice chatting to you the other morning. I assume we talked just before you headed off to take this video. After watching this i realised we could have talked about vans and bikes! I have a black Transit that we regularly fill with bikes and take on adventures. Great shots as usual. Cheers... Adrian

Love Spurn Point, Gary. I keep meaning to head back there but never seem to have the time at the moment, so a great video reminder that it's still there. Enjoyed as always, mate. Congrats on the new van. Not sure it's quite bright enough though 😂👍🙂

Hi Gary, did you use a CPL polarizing filter in these photos?Thanks
@GaryGough16 сағат бұрын
I did indeed. In this instance, I only used it to reduce the light. They consume around one and half stops of light.

I guess you prob have said in a previous video... if you could let me know what one id be keen to learn... im not that great at PP and use affinity... but generally if photoshop does it affinity can too... id just need to work out how... but knowing how you do it in adobe is a good start!

08:57 - what was the reasoning behind the post poking above the horizon being a bad composition ?
@grahamjgreen18 сағат бұрын
I love your work Gary, but I can't help thinking that always calling black and white, long exposure images fine art is a bit lazy. For me, fine art images can be created in any condition (boring skies, epic skies, no sky) and with a wide variety of techniques. Surely the distinction comes from the purpose or intent of the photography, and with that in mind, many, if not most of your non-black and white long exposure images could also be considered fine art. Pigeon-holing fine art photography as black and white , long exposure images does a disservice to not only your viewers (who may develop the wrong idea of what fine art photography is) but also your own work.
@GaryGough16 сағат бұрын
I never claimed that fine art must be in black and white. I simply explained that, in the situation I faced, where the sky had no clouds or detail, it was challenging to blend the horizon effectively. In this case, converting the image to black and white helped to mask the lack of detail in the sky. I’m always open to differing opinions, though!👍
@magkjeld16 сағат бұрын
Agreed. BW, minimalistic and long exposure can be art but not always, and it´s certainly not a condition for «fine» as in «better» art. I think «fine art» is a former way of categorizing these kinds of images, but it´s very misleading, since you can´t really call any form of art or photography finer/better than other artforms. ALways had issues with that expression, but I got to say I really like Garys photos and videos :)
@grahamjgreen16 сағат бұрын
@GaryGough I think you've missed the point I was trying to make (my fault, not yours). This isn't just about this video, go back and look at your back catalog, almost every one of your videos where you've taken long exposure, black and white images, you've referred to them as fine art, but I've never seen you call any of your other work that does not have those characteristics fine art. And to clarify, I'm genuinely not trying to have a go at you or be a troll, I love your work and the vast knowledge you share with your audience every week. I just feel like you're a) selling yourself a bit short b) giving some of your audience the wrong impression about what fine art is, and can be.
