Glad you're feeling better Gary. I am that bloke who picks up a putter in a pro shop, sinks a few on their putting area and then buys that putter! Or, I should say I was, until I borrowed a friend's putter and found that I putted so much better with it as it had toe-hang (and my stroke is arced)! Three years later I have a Ping Shea H and putt well. I wish I'd known about this years ago as I wouldn't have wasted a fair bit of money on the 4 face balanced putters that are gathering dust in the garage! So, great video with great advice. Hopefully, your viewers will learn from it and not make the same mistakes that I have!!!

I'm subscribed to a LOT of the golf reviewers and have also unsubscribed from quite a few (including RS) because of their need to gain subscribers by hitting and comparing drivers and length, which isn't relatable to a lot of golfers. You're doing amazing mate. Everything you put out is informative and inclusive. You're trying to help people and that's been something you've rightly pointed out as missing in the community of golfers. Your honesty and your willingness to share information is refreshing. Keep up the great work and enjoy the opening of the golf courses. Can't wait to see more posts

Gaz, another great informative video! Before I went to buy a new putter last year I did lots of research to see what putters would fit me. I had a 40+ year old T.P. Mills blade that was in my bag that long and wasn't working anymore.I ended up with a Tommy Armour Impact 3 mallet with a longer shaft (35") and dropped 4 strokes per round on my putting. That was massive!.

I got a putter fitting last fall for the first time in my life, never was a fan of mallet putters before that. But I'll tell ya Gaz, if I keep putting this spring the way I have been with my new Bird of Prey since I got it, I'll probably be buried with the damned thing. Great episode Gary. I have a question that may be a topic you or JR may be willing to address. With the weather finally turning favorable and the golf juices following again, I have my golf version of a New Year’s Resolution to improve my handicap this year. It’s not about clubs - all about instruction. How do I go about selecting a teacher? What questions should I be asking? Should I be asking about what equipment they use and what is the minimum amount? How do I find someone who is going to make my game the best for me as a senior ? A golf camp or regular lessons? What are your thoughts?

Great video Gary, thank you. Clearly from other videos I've seen, you advocate that we must use the right equipment to match our swing, swing speed, skill etc. Could you do something on Gear Effect and what happens to the ball if the strike isn't correct and how this might be linked to using the wrong equipment? Sure this would help me and the majority of amateur golfers. Ps - its arc rather than ark.......but who cares as great video!

Great tips Gary. It is so easy for amateurs to spend a lot of money on a putter that doesn't really suit them just because they have seen top pros use them on TV. Future vids? Would be good to see something on bunker play - sandy bunkers; 'bare' bunkers; plugged balls and under the lip shots

@garymartingolf2 жыл бұрын
There’s no way of telling you what you’ll specifically like. If we relate how a pro player picks a putter, it’s 1st a selection from what face balance suits them, then picking the heads which please their eye, and then finally, the one that feels good on the pace of greens they’re used to playing on.

Technically speaking, it's not designed for a straight stroke, however, if you love the head and you're confident with it, keep rolling them in. Maybe next time you're in the market for a putter, just test face balanced putters as they'll be better weighted for your stroke
