The Neo Geo was an arcade platform produced by SNK, debuting in 1990.
The Neo Geo Multi Video System (MVS) was a blessing for arcade owners, because it allowed for interchangeable cartridges, making it easy (and cost effective) to swap out games - or even to host several at the same time.
SNK also released the Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System (AES) which was essentially a home console-ized version of the MVS. In short, the games you played in the arcade were the very same as the ones you played at home. None of this porting stuff - it was the full arcade experience at home! Of course, given how powerful the system was, it made for a very expensive home system...
SNK, as well as other developers, produced some terrific games for the platform. The platform was highly regarded for its extensive collection of fighting games; series such as Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, and Samurai Shodown were all Neo Geo titles.
Fighting games on the Neo Geo were generally of a high quality standard, which unfortunately tends to overshadow the non-fighting game entries in the library. There are quite a few non-fighting games - many also of high quality, but generally not as well known as their fighting game cousins.
In this video, we take a look at the non-fighting games in the Neo Geo library!
