A good example of IMINT (Image intelligence, gathering data from a photo). Extremely useful skill to have, and probably one of the most underlooked when it comes to posting on social media.. people obviously know about not sharing your name, address, phone number, etc. but typically ignore the countless photos they post on social media.. which a good portion of the time, with someone smart enough, provides a ton of valuable data on the person/where they are.. This is also a really good breakdown on the thought process while doing anything OSINT related, I subscribed.

Question. You mentioned that the person who wanted the location to be found is from Leeds, and that's what prompted you to look in that area. That's a massive piece of info, which narrowed down the possibilities to near pinpoint precision. If you didn't have that information, how would you have proceeded?

Hey! Yes that’s HUGE. I would have asked for more intel. And this is what intel is all about: allocating time and money to collect data points and turning them into little gold nuggets. From IT, to coding, I've been trying to see what field I'd like go to at 48. This might be it. When I was young, I always wanted to be a Detective. I went to school for graphic design when I got into reading comics. Jaded with the personal experiences I was having I dove into hip hop and eventually producing/engineering with no training or knowledge. Two years ago I found out why my life was so bouncy. (?) I have ADHD combined subtypes. This makes it very hard to choose and stick with things. I have since learned that my mind *should* do multiple things, with an area of more focus. (Apparently, you have to make a living? Lol) This seems so conducive to my kind of brain and abilities. Recently went to a new movie with my daughter (who also has ADHD cst, but still young.) and explained what was going to happen exactly. (She was stunned that the main character dies so early.) "Dad, you always come up with stuff *NOBODY* thinks of!" At the end, it happened exactly like I said and she slowly turned her head to me. (we're so theatrical!) "DID YOU SEE THIS ALREADY?!" 😑"Nope! I told you, poppa is smart!" Lol. I just pick up on patterns and things that render an image in my mind, or that seem off. Which might explain why I'm good with geo-spatial reasoning. This is exciting.

But this is also with me still assuming its somewhere in the UK. Going in blind, I likely would've ran those searches for all 8 countries that played in the WC on 29 Nov. @@theGaryRuddell If you were feeling fairly confident (but not 100%) in your answer, would you have gone to the place in person as a "customer" to check out more details? (Assuming, that is, you were already relatively close to the location.)

Not that impressive. If you hadn't had the clue that it was from Leeds there's no way you could tell where the picture was taken. How would you figure it out then if you hadn't got that clue?
@theGaryRuddell11 ай бұрын
Yeah I would have been stuck then. But fortunately, I did have that piece of information. Such is life.

The match was USA - Iran. Maybe knowing to look for Iranian owned shisha places would have helped you find it quicker? The two flags are literally on the screen

Honestly even looking at something like yelp to get similar potato quality photos to the original would give you a better look at a more current state of the inside of the place.

The names have changed since this video was released. The Halo Lounge has become the ShaSha Lounge. And the Grove Café has become the Route 66 "Pizza, Burgers..." Also, the road sign (Maximum 20) has been straightened.

They straightened the sign!? We must fix this.

I know you did more, but for this case, all you had to do was find the right game, then look at the hookah, know it's that type of club, look though Google Maps photos (comparing), and locate it.
