Thanks for the video. My fireplace is fairly new and it takes a few tries until it lights up. My question is, how long can I let the igniter run safely while the gas is flowing out. I let it run for like 20 seconds before I switch it off and wait a few seconds before turning it back on.

I bought a new gas fireplace 7 months ago and it has started doing this. It will eventually ignite after 1-2min of clicking. I doubt it would've gotten dirty that fast, but I will try cleaning it. If that doesn't work, what else could be wrong? It only seems to do it when first turning it on. If you turn it off, let it cool, and turn it back on, it ignites immediately.

Sounds like you may need to just clean the part that makes the spark with a wire brush.
