Everyone is gonna say these new planets aren't as fun, or that they're boring, but I think adding variety is a win for the universe HG is creating. Thanks for this first look!

its enough visual variety in my opinion. now my hunt for the perfect moon orbiting a ringed gas giant begins

Mofos out there complaining about gas giants having a surface in this update but forget that this game just about breaks every single rule of Astrophysics in every corner. In addition, Hello Game's engine probably cannot support generating planets without an actual surface anyway.

Honestly, I like it. It feels like what I'd imagine the interior of a gas giant feels like, I like how thick the atmosphere is and how it doesn't get thinner like a regular planet, which ofc wouldn't make sense. Plus, even if you don't like the surfaces- on their own, they are super pretty!

i understand imagination is more important in a video game than fidelity to reality, in most cases, but yea.. really not how a gas giant is irl. i personally dont care tho, they look amazing from space

@@DLNBioletto I feel like a certain amount of it you can/have to just put up with it quirks of the Atlas simulation, for better or for worse. Someone suggested that the engine might need planets to have surfaces- if that's indeed the case, I think they handled it pretty well anyways.

This looks just like those empty dead planets... but with an atmosphere that's hurtful to my eyes lol.... sorry but I'll go underwater thanks! >_

Its slightly underwhelming. But its free so whatever! Love it!

no shit surface on a gas giant? I mean come on, i know there are a lot of non-real things in the game, but why they couldn't just make it 1. a gas giant where you can go into a shallow level and get hydrogen and other gases or things, not able to land 2. or it should be a fully water world but this is so idiotic :c

Are Gas Giant like this IRL? Can people walk on them?
@diariodefotoКүн бұрын
actually, kinda yes. Even Jupiter have a solid core. Gas giants are the opposite of our planet: Instead of 99,9% rock and 00,1% atmosphere, they're almost all atmosphere.
@Alexander-gv1fpКүн бұрын
Gas giants are not like that, they don't actually have a surface but at a certain point the pressure becomes so strong that the gas condenses into liquid and becomes an ocean sphere with a core halfway between solid and liquid. I don't blame Hello Games though, somehow they had to be made, and (fun fact) the way they represented the gas giants in the game are how they were initially hypothesized in the past before advanced studies of the future, and they appear as (precisely) they would appear in a Sci-ci from the 50s and 60s

@@diariodefoto Jupiter is actually the only one without a solid core lol. Data from Juno indicates that Jupiter's rocky core is diffuse and not solid. Saturn, Neptune and Uranus all have solid rocky cores you could technically walk on though if you could withstand the pressure and temperature. Though the atmospheres at those depths is more of a fluid and in Saturn's case a hot metallic fluid.
@Heavensrun19 сағат бұрын
No, not at all. A lot of people will bring up the rocky cores, but a rocky core does not mean a rocky *surface.*
