Called it! Why would the other OR docs not consider the possibility of the patient vomiting bile?? Especially after dry heaving?? Honestly this makes me so upset. I find it really hard to trust doctors in general because they are so quick to write off anything as anxiety. Medical gaslighting is NOT an uncommon thing. It took me 16 years to get diagnosed correctly with EDS because of doctors doing this to me. I’m glad you took your patient seriously - you might have saved their life. The world needs more medical professionals like you.

It's always nice to meet another zebra from the dazzle, I feel your pain, I am still in an abusive relationship with many in the medical field! I've had my diagnosis for 8 years now and still have problems with some drs......but im not meek anymore.....im going to fight! They will have no chance after my upcoming surgery, turns out I've never had a proper functioning nose and went 40 years with less oxygen than I should have......im going to be so fast and strong when I have oxygen!!! I hope you are doing well and fighting the good fight for yourself!

What's EDS?
@bobaFête2 жыл бұрын
@@sl4983 Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - it’s a genetic condition that affects the way a person’s body produces certain connective tissues, typically Type 1 collagen. People are impacted to varying degrees, but it usually causes joint pain and instability and often people have problems with different organs. EDS is a good example of an invisible illness and/or variable disability. Usually those affected don’t look unwell, and their illness may impact them differently from one day to the next. It was once believed to be very rare, but actually it’s more likely under-diagnosed. I’m not a medical professional, but if you have any questions I’d be happy to answer them from a patient’s perspective.

My anxiety symptoms usually don't make me have nausea. It will suppress my appetite. I know anxiety can affect the digestive system. My main symptoms are tremors & dizziness. I'm afraid of losing control of my body. Occasionally the tremors can be so bad it affects my coordination. Hopefully one day we will be able to better understand mental health.

When my anxiety is severe. I have to urinate frequently and swallowing gets hard. I get waves of panic, I feel cold and can suffer depersonalization. Those all happened before my last procedure. I didn't feel sick though. Not sure why. Some people do, but I don't eat when I have bad anxiety either. 😕

Hi there, Doc. Practice makes...well, better. Perfection is an impossible standard when judging something subjective; like my opinion of your presentation. Speaking of which, it was very hard to follow. I believe "anxiety" (I struggle with extreme forms of it myself) got the best of you in this video. You seemed very nervous. However, I appreciate what you are trying to share in your videos and truly believe, practice will help you get better at using this forum for public speaking. Though, the fact that you are handsome, does make it easier to watch. I do want to thank you for addressing the important topic of "Gas Lighting" and how it can effect the medical care a patient receives. It is under realized and can be very dangerous; requiring wider discussion and education opportunities for physicians and patients, alike. --Jessica from Florida 🌞

Before the first operation, I didn't have any stress at all, I was relaxed, waking up was like from a wonderful dream, but after an hour I started to vomit a lot, for 4 hours I was hydrated by infusion and given small injections to raise the pressure, I felt I didn't feel my body while the nausea and vomiting lasted. It was my first gynecological laparoscopy, instead of going home the same afternoon, I left the next day, after that I had another laparoscopy, before the anesthesia I was given medication to prevent vomiting after the op, but I was so afraid that it wouldn't happen again the same that after the anesthesia I woke up terribly stressed, mild tremors, a feeling of fear, I did not vomit. After that, I had a follicle puncture under short anesthesia, I also received anti-nausea medicine before, everything was fine, but after that bad first experience, I go under anesthesia every time, terrified that it won't happen again. I was so scared for the puncture that my heart rate was 140, I received part of the dose of propofol a few minutes before to calm everything down, only then to fall asleep completely, waking up also full of fear and restlessness for a good 3 hours after. If that first vomiting with severe weakness hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't have been so panicked not about the anesthesia itself, but about waking up.

Had surgery 8/15, L thumb CMC/tendon harvest, L Thumb MCP volar plate capsulodesis and L endoscopic carpal tunnel release. I did NOT want to take narcotics. My anesthesiologist did a L shoulder nerve block...lasted about 22 hours and pain RX administered perioperatively. I kept my arm elevated, used ice when my hand felt warm and swollen and used 2 Aleve and 1300 mg of tylenol every 12 hours...Surgeon's PA said this is a painful surgery.. she gave me 25 tabs Oxycodone 5mg... 8/26... I still have 25 tabs of oxy. Never needed to take any...pain was between a "2-3" 0-10 with a occasional pain spike every now and then of less than a second. I am wondering...took me about 8 days to feel more myself, very sleepy and did not tolerate activity, is that related to anesthesia? I really love your videos! Thank you for the great information...

I have really bad acid reflux. I throw up in the middle of the night in my throat where it wakes me up. I do asperate at times where it takes my breath away. I have brought it to my gastrologist several times. I'm now looking for a new one. I do have raspy voice due to this and they won't give me an answer why one side of my throat doesn't work. I have difficulty swallowing at times with certain foods and pills.

Hey doc! Great video. I had anxiety ABOUT the anti-nausea patch, because I knew that scopolomine (anti-nausea patch) can cause urinary retention. And never having had a catheter before, even though I knew I was going to have a slimline (not Foley), I wanted to be able to pee easily. Lucky me, I did not have nausea, no patch, and cleared urine just fine PO :)

I think for a couple days I was so scared I was afraid of shock. Got home and 3 weeks later stared running fever thought it was a virus but I had it for 2 days checked for covid but neg. Had a urine test done it was neg. So the 3rd day could not even get Tylenol to bring it down ended up being a infection from surgery.

Doc....so what did the horse voice have to do with the fact he ate before surgery?
@MedicalSecrets2 жыл бұрын
The nature of the hoarse voice was concerning for there being chronic, unrecognized and undiagnosed acid reflux. Even in somebody who may not have eaten before the surgery, the presence of such severe acid reflux could be concerning for delayed gastric emptying, which is what I suspect caused the major bile juices in the patient's stomach

If you want to stop having anxiety you have to pay the dues to stop having anxiety. First you come in balls to the wall full throttle. I do this by asking if there's anybody at this hospital that's a student and can work on me because they need to learn on somebody and you guys couldn't kill me with a hammer handle if you had all day. Then I back it up with actions. If I can't do both I will not be able to quell my anxiety. I went in for emergency surgery because I had an abscess on my anus. I told the surgeon to have the new people work on me because they're going to have to have it right and they're going to have to have it right now on some kid. On me I'm huge and healthy and it just not a big deal you can't kill me let the new people have a shot at some meat(). The surgeon said okay these are all residents and students. Here's where I backed it up with action. I said everybody line up or some OJT smallest finger first. I ain't anxious but I paid my dues.
