Thanks for the video so does the igniter stay on the whole time the oven is on it looks like it stays on is that true the igniter doesn’t go off once the ovens lit it stays on as well correct thank you

I have the same question. Until I had to replace it I never thought to test if the igniter turned off. I know my central AIR unit uses the same type of the but it turns off once the gas starts running. The only difference here, that I can think of, is the oven door opening and closing and the oven maintaining temperature - which would cause the igniter to go on and off more frequently.

Hi, I have two igniters 1 up top & 1 there on the bottom like in your video, everything else works on my range, but oven & broiler both . Is it possible for both to go bad at the same time ? And do you have any videos on this problem?

The igniter should shut off after flame comes on right?

@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance ok good to know. I repair commercial appliances and it’s a bit different. Usually I always see the igniter turn off when flame is present. I’m assuming the amperage of the igniter for a home appliance keeps that gas safety valve open so it doesn’t turn off after flame and just stays on. Anyway, thanks for rapid response

In your installation video, you are touching the porcelain piece of the new igniter. In every video I’ve seen, they say NOT to touch it or the element, because it will damage and shorten the life of your new igniter due to the natural and oven contact oils on your hands.

My element /igniter looks clean and not broken. ?? As for the connector, it’s not up top nor is it down I’m the drawer area. Seems there is another panel when looking up from drawer area. So I have to locate this connector but I’m curious if there is some sore of break in the connection near connector since the element / igniter doesn’t appear to be broken. Can the igniter be bad even without a break?

My igniter light up almost immediately but it takes a long time for the flame to kick on?

A bad igniter can still glow. Timing how long it takes for the flame to kick is a good way to see if your igniter is still good though. Anything under 30 seconds is considered good- anything over, consider replacing.
