Never had a problem with the governor itself blowing up? I always removed them out of the crank case.

We've done about a dozen engines this way, no problems with leaving governor intact inside engine. Others recommend pulling the guts out. It's up to you.

@@stretch44875 Didn't think so. Seems some call in some engines the governor, the oil splasher slinger or something like that. Any other issues with the engines over revving or something that fails or do you test the RPM's somehow when setting the throttle? I'm about to test a cheap $10 tachometer so I can set the no load RPM's on the OHV's I've been learning with working on. Thanks Man!

@@jafinch78 I'm replacing an Evenrude outboard boat engine with a 19hp opposed twin. I definitely want to delete the governor. I thought I would do the same thing. Buy a cheap tachometer and set the throttle to the same full throttle rpm as before I took the governor off. How did that work for you?
