I have to tackle this project tomorrow on a new range I purchased. This definitely helped confirm what I watched in another video. When it comes to gas, you almost want to treat it like a doctor...get a second opinion just to make sure you know what you're doing and what to expect while doing it.

You have to put the actual soapy liquid on the joints, then look for bubbles. Don't put bubble on the joints. If there are bubbles that means there's a leak.
@JoshuaDay0550 Жыл бұрын
no, if it BUBBLES then there is a leak. Not "if there are bubbles". Youre going to have bubbles no matter which way you do it because its soapy water.
@choimdachoim9491 Жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter. If you put bubbles on a leaking joint, you'll see those bubbles expanding, growing larger.

On the Brass Craft web site, they suggest of not using more than 25 Newton meter of torque when tightening their fittings. It requires some force but not crazy tight. To give a reference: car's oil filter housing cap and the oil pan plug require to be torqued also at 25 NTM. So if you did an oil change job, it is that kind of effort.

Low pressure is sch40 Black Iron. No galvanized. The stuff they galvanize pipe with is toxic if it passes through a burner. Looks like that setup in the picture is 3/4 out of the wall reduced to 1/2. You can get shutoffs that are pipe threaded on one end and flared on the other

That much pipe dope will eventually clog the gas valve. You shouldn't have any pipe dope on the last two threads, you can't allow that stuff to get inside the pipe. The amount of pipe dope on those threads is quite ridiculous, you brush on about 1/4 of that in the video. You're going to clog that gas line with that much. As far as the leak check, get yourself an eye dropper or a bulb syringe, fill with soapy water and drop on connections, if it's leaking you'll see it quickly. All those bubbles I don't see how you can see anything especially if there were a leak, you'd be looking for bubbles inside of bubbles which seems odd and difficult. Other than that, not a bad video.
@mpadrezas50372 жыл бұрын
i don't think this is the right way to install a gas line. first there is no need to use so much pipe dope, there is no need to tighten the hose fittings over tight, how are you going to run the gas line so it doesn't kink or rub on something.
@portcitytransparency5730 Жыл бұрын
The gas line I believe you are referring to is a flexible appliance connector it shouldn't be kinkable an it doesn't matter if it rubs up against anything just as long as it doesn't conflict with your range being able to be installed all the way in.

If you really want to pick the fly S#!t out of the pepper, They aren't really channel lock pliers unless they made by Channel Lock, the real term is Water Pump Pliers. wrench; noun : a hand or power tool for holding, twisting, or turning an object (such as a bolt or nut) BTW it was a great video for someone that doesn't know how to install a gas flex tube.
